ContentByMail enables creation of content for Joomla! by email!Even the configuration of the mambot can be performed by email. That is not only convenient, it already gives a taste of the things I have planned... ;)So now any Joomla-based website can be maintained from everywhere, as long as you get a chance to send an email! :) A nice point is also that no additional tools need to be installed/configured, there are no cron-jobs running, this solution is 'pure' Joomla! and PHP!The whole thing is implemented by using a Mambot that checks the mailbox and adds the content, if required. This implies the minor issue that the first visitor of your site (after you've sent the email) will see the new content only when he visits a 2nd page on your site, since the contant will only be created when the mambot is executed while the content for the 1st page is prepared. But as a normal user will hopefully visit more than 1 page and also as there are so many Spiders around which probably will also visit your site (and thus trigger the mambot), I think this issue is not important. Handling of attached/embedded images is currently not possible, but is a planned extension for the next version!

great bot but may not work under maildir by dpk, August 22, 2007
cbm is great when it's working, but different server arrangements can cause it to fail. when it fails, it can really screw up your site in odd ways, like lock you out of the backend, so keep that in mind and unpublish it if things go wild.

Does what it says by drnibbles, December 23, 2006
I have tested this and it does what it says however I would love it to be able to handle attachments also i.e. images... Have not seen much development of this lately and looks like its not being maintained

Good! But.... by Romelden, October 16, 2006
Very good and looking for this some times. But pitty that it cannot work in image and also the image in Menu is very unclear, specially those for mambelfish. I cannot success in using JoomFish. Still working on....

For image, there is a plugin with MMS, I think this can be combine with that, it will be perfect.

Very Useful - Wiki Like Behavior by emagin, September 25, 2006
This bot is very powerful, because it allows your users to submit content to your Joomla site from their email client.
Since it also accepts HTML emails, you can submit content with images already wrapped/formatted very easily.

Warning:
Default config fires mambot based on site visits. I have found this can slow your site down considerably.
Use the cron job.

Cron Script Old
The cron script is old and based on Mambo, needs some reworking.

Great for simple stuff by tkvent, May 16, 2006
I've been using this for a while now. It is absolutely perfect for uploading quick text based content. I'm looking forward to the next release with image ability. One problem I did encounter with an old host company was an overload of checking. I forget the actual errors I received, but I was having this bot check the mailbox every 30min and it was way to much for my host account. I've now switched hosts and am checking the mailbox every hour and haven't had a problem. A great addition to Joomla... please keep it up!

Image Support by crash777, April 24, 2006
I couldn't find a way to enable images... of course, I would use HTML and link to images already on the net but if I wanted to submit a content item with new images, I couldn't use this plugin...
Overall good work, however, with tons of capabilities!
