This simple plugin/mambot will parse all outgoing links in any article/content and give them the nofollow attribute. This is useful for SEO/PR optimization. GoogleBot will ignore outgoing links.

Great Idea, but it broke SIG Pro by DavidBoggitt, May 10, 2008
So I had to uninstall it... I checked the source and it had dumped some tag in the Simple Image Gallery Pro code and broke it...

Would like to see it developed though, as Joomla! would benefit from a bot such as this.

If it only worked by seanwhe, February 24, 2008
I installed and tried this tool on a few sites and found that this simply does not work.

Lack of support in way of forum etc is a poor show. The idea is right, Joomla badly needs a tool for this.

Add NoFollow attribute to Joomla menu items by vitez, January 23, 2008
Unfortunately NoFollow mambot will not work on menu items in your Joomla because there is no Mambot event I could attach parsing functions to (or I'm not informed well).
There fore I came up with an idea to solve the issue. You'll have to edit your Joomla source file. Please note that this procedure requires some php skills and if you decide to do it you are doing it on your own risk!

Basically you need to change few lines of code. This tutorial is tested on joomla version 1.0.13 and can be found here:

hope I helped someone,

cheers and thanks for reviews!

Bugs by mallchin, January 23, 2008
This returns very badly formatted tags and applies itself to internal as well as external links. Un-publishing it still caused problems too.

Sorely needed, kudos to the developer.

I had been deep into SEO for my new site when I ran across this extension. I need to quote many, many URIs throughout the articles, but this does not mean I want them to leech karma off my SEO efforts. Plus Google might think I am selling links and drag me down.

Installed, activated, no sweat. Simple and sweet.
