AutoAssignAvatar Pro Version 1.0
3/4/08: Added an "Avatar Power Pack" with 400 more high-quality Avatars, bringing the total available to 545. Never show your visitors the same Avatar twice!!!

2/11/08: Updated to make the admin backend a little more user friendly. Added the ability to assign avatars to 50 users at a time, rather than your whole site, thus reducing CPU server load on sites with thousands of users. Made the report function viewable only by individuals with administrator access level or higher.
--------------------------------------------------
In my experience, only about 10-20% of users at a community builder site take time to upload their own avatar. As a result, they remain faceless citizens of what should be a growing, personalized, dynamic online community.

AutoAssignAvatar Pro automatically assigns a random avatar to these anonymous individuals. Immediately makes your site friendlier and more personable. Includes 145 sample avatars and thumbnails tastefully selected to complement the design of almost any webpage.

The licensed version has these additional features:

First, you can upload images to the Community Builder gallery. Users who select a thumbnail from the gallery will be upgraded to the full sized avatar the next time the module runs. They're not just stuck with the thumbnail as their avatar.

Second, new users who register will be randomly assigned an avatar, after a period of time determined by the webmaster. My preference is about 3 to 7 days. This gives the user a chance to upload their own image without feeling like you've commandeered their profile page. Once this interval elapses, the module can optionally email the user and let them know that an avatar was assigned for them. A link back to their profile is included in the email, along with instructions for uploading their own avatar, should they desire.

Third, the licensed version has detailed report features that tell you how many users have uploaded an avatar, what image types, and what avatar and thumbnail files have gone missing.

If you intend to use the Avatar Gallery, this module is practically a must, since it lets you showcase your entire membership, not just the 10-20% that uploaded their own image.

Excellent by wilson1973, May 22, 2008
Does what it says on the tin.

Really simple and effective and a must for any community site. Installed really easily and worked as soon as it was published.

One small criticism, and this does not detract from my rating or from what this module does. All of the images I have seen so far are of inanimate objects rather than people, caricatures, emblems, etc.

I know this may infringe on copyright etc, but it may be worth exploring with a few of the free avatar sites there are out their on the market.

Just a thought.

Well done Roger, and I will be following the progress of this module.

Works like a charm! by tylermitchell, February 20, 2008
Installed easily, instructions are clear and works like a charm!

I had over 200 users without avatars and so any searching on my site turned up a lot of "No Image". Not very attractive if you're trying to convince advertisers how much your site is used! Now that's all taken care of!

Good module for any community website by toolbartv, February 16, 2008
Everyone should think about his website as community portal. It's just so importent. I've spent $8 but this kind of module should cost much much more. Just think about it in longterm. It's pure gold for me. And contact is very nice and helpfull.

Very handy! by jasperli, January 27, 2008
I was one of the beta testers before release of this module and i was 100% satisfied as of the first beginning.
It's active since weeks now and living up my site with nice avatars, automaticly replacing the basic "no image" after 3 days (customizable). Looking at the fast response times of Roger worth more than the $8,- he is asking...
