Christophe Beyls's popular Slimbox Picture Gallery in a Joomla! v 1.5 plugin. Simple way to share images in an attractive fashion. Instructions contained within the Plugin Manager. Thanks Christophe! http://www.digitalia.be/software/slimbox

The plugin is really good, but for begginers like me it has a massive problem: The thumbnails overlap one with the other and there's no way to figure out how to fix it since there's no instructions. I've tried to email the developer but no luck. I'm sure it can work amazingly, but you gotta be good with code or will give you problems.

Great looking gallery, easy to install by Cari, June 5, 2008

The gallery installed easily and is pretty straightforward to use. There were a couple things I learned the hard way:
> don't leave any carriage returns in the list of images. It totally breaks the gallery. You get the code on your webpage.
> watch out for styling on hover links. My pictures were being cut in half by big blocks of blue...turned out to be the css setting for hovers, triggered by the NEXT link!
Otherwise I'm really please so far and looking forward to using it. Thanks Amy!

Works nicely, but... by tdl, May 8, 2008

It works in most cases. If you add more than 1 gallery to one page displaying just the first image thumb for each, clicking the image will only reveal the photos in 1 of the series.
Basically this means you get multiple different thumbs in the overview page, but when you click either one of them, you always get to see the same photos.

Thank you for this excellent plugin!
I was searching quite a while for something like this. Excellent!
I only wonder if it would be possible to kinda upload images in stead of copy/paste? Can be a stupid question, but since i know Joomla just for 3 days, forgive me :-)

Man i wished this worked:( by mooney101, April 18, 2008

There is a conflict with a couple of other modules I use when using internet explorer 7. I get the "operation aborted" error and page wont load. The two modules that conflicted with this are...
Banner Slider: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3642/Itemid,35/
and
S5 Quick Contact http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3645/Itemid,35/
This does not work with these two modules in internet explorer 7. Firefox and Safari both worked great with this and my other modules.

Formatting gallery thumbnails? by seanbbb, March 25, 2008

This slimbox plugin works well.
The slimbox syntax can be inserted anywhere on a page, even when using the TinyMCE editor.
However, I would welcome some tips, guidance, explanation on how you go about formatting the gallery thumbnail images.
Many thanks

It still seems to be the ONLY really working slimbox extension on J1.5, so... thanx for effort.
It should be great if we don't have to manually add all images/thumbnails, so I'm going to write a tool that "grab" all of them into a dir according with specified patterns and generate needed code to simply copy and paste. If someone of you is interested let me know and I will share it (with source of course).

This is an excellent wrapper for the Slimbox code. Adding the zoom icon like the 'JCE Image Manager Extended' component would be nice.
There is a small bug in the PHP code. If you want to stop the 'Next' link from showing at the end of a sequence of images or if you only have 1 image, make sure that you always leave the last 'semicolon' (;) off of the list, i.e.:
[1 image]
{slimbox hires.jpg, thumb.jpg, MyDescription}
or
[multiple images]
{slimbox hires1.jpg, thumb1.jpg, MyDescription1; hires2.jpg, thumb2.jpg, MyDescription2}

I've been looking for a way to post thumbnails in my articles (usually only one per article) that will display on a blog, and allow one to zoom in on that picture. This extension does that exceptionally well. Thanks to Amy for building this plugin.
There are two enhancements I would recommend:
1. I can't figure out how to restrict this to a single image when I have more than one picture displaying on a page. Even though I list only one image in the parameters, "1 of x" is displayed at the bottom and "prev/next" buttons are shown. The original Slimbox doesn't work that way -- see the 'single image' demo here: http://www.digitalia.be/software/slimbox.
2. It'd be nice to optionally display a caption below the image that states "click to zoom." I realize most users may try to click anyway, but you'd be surprised how many don't think to do that.

what a pleasant surprise by buyspearfishingcom, February 23, 2008

what a pleasure to find a component for joomla 1.5 that simply works "out the box". This is the first gallery I can find that actually works on joomla 1.5 without any problems! The instructions are clear and easy to follow. 5 minutes and your'e up and running. The visuals are great too.
