Admins Only by Firefly, June 1, 2006

This is one more to add to the list of bots and modules for admins to add video to a site. None are needed, as one can just link to a media file and let the user's media player handle it, or else just embed the appropriate code. However, for those who feel the need for a special device, here's another one.

The limiting factor is that to work, the user must input four paremeters. There's no practical way that the user could know that, or what the parameters are. So users cannot use it.

This is for admins only, who can read the instructions. Sorry about that.

No problems, active support by eichelman, May 27, 2006

I tried doing the html myself but finally gave up. I never use sub 1.0 software, but this was an exception.

1) It is actively being worked on!
2) Simple and clean install, thats where the instructions are on how to use it.
3) ok, the parameters arent easy to type in, but this will probably be changed later.

WISH LIST: I wish it supported DivX ! They have a web player and it gives great quality.

MP3 Player on frontpage by Radjammin, May 25, 2006

First this is a great MP3 Flash Player. I will probaby just use the Media plugin for JCE editor for movie files. But JCE can't do MP3 (yet as it says on it's web site.) This bot install was very easy. The only problem is I really wanted a Module MP3 player. I kinda figured it out in a different way I put the Mambot in a Newsflash and posted the Newsflash Module to my frontpage. Kinda dirty way to do it but it worked great. If there is a better way to do this let me know! My site is www.vintagehorn.com. You can check out my jimmy rigged MP3 Module using this Mambot and the Newsflash Module.

I tried creating my own content module but it wouldn't run the bot, it just displayed the bot arguments.

Again Great Mambot, keep up the good work!!!

Media Manager by Firefly, May 23, 2006

To add mov file types to the Joomla Media Manager, edit administrator\components\com_media\admin.media.php to accept it.

This bot works perfectly. After installing, don't forget to publish it.

Very good bot! by efish, May 19, 2006
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:
I have tried this bot for a little while, and I think it is great! I have some questions though. Is it a way to ad a shortcut in the editor so I get the mambotstrings automatically? It is so annoying to write {mgmediabot}images/stories/video/videodatei.wmv|true(Click here to play)|300|300{/mgmediabot} every time. Do you understand? Thank you very much.

Pretty nifty by soulrebel, May 18, 2006
Im using this as an mp3 player but see no way of making them autoplay instead of having to click the play button. I understand this is still indevelopment and hope this feature is availible soon, until then i have to keep on searchin'... I suggest this if you do not require this feature.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. by j2o, May 4, 2006

Excellent, just what we needed.
& Theres so many *ehem* crap media streaming extensions for joomla, we needed something simple, clean and good looking.

Would be cool if there was a plugin for JCE that adds the tags into content, hmm!

rss? by to_, March 24, 2006
Hi,
congratulations to this great bot!

Any plan of integrating rss feeds?

Very nice by c3sniper, March 23, 2006

I toyed around with various mp3 player add ons etc. This is definately the easiest to understand and incorporate into my site. Very happy with the outcome. I get frustrated easily working with my site and trying various plugins. This one works great for my purposes. I specifically enjoy the choice of being able to play the file while continuing to browse the rest of the site. Very satisfied.
Thank you very much Marco.

Buffering? by jasonjeaton, March 18, 2006

Installed easy, works great. However, how do I get it to buffer the steams? The playback is choppy.

This plugin work great! Simple to use for a newbie. One question, does anyone know which switch to use so that media is not automatically played when the page comes up when displaying in content (not pop-up)?
