LazyBackup
Send a daily backup of the database in a zipped file to one or multiple emails. The most easy backup method 4 joomla. This plugin will save you LOTS of time, when it backs you whole database up, once a day. And its easy to restore via PhpMyadmin. Version 1.1.2 Made minor changes and deleted test option. Remember - Sent to as many emails you want :o)

LazyBackup by BatteriesDirect, October 30, 2008
Excellent help from Stefan. I made some beginners foulds and Stefan took care for it. Thanks. Super Service!

great plugin by clarimuse, October 24, 2008
Does exactly what it sets out to do. Took 2 mins to install, enter my email address and get a backup mailed to me. The file then imported without error into my local copy of the site.

Only one minor niggle - backups are scheduled so I can't go into the admin panel and send a copy of the db immediately when I have made changes to the site.

Very handy extension by mensworkshop, October 15, 2008
I've had this extension on my site for sometime and have never had a problem with it. It's reassuring to get a complete database back-up regularly delivered to my email inbox. It's helped me out from time to time when I would have otherwise lost data. Well done and thanks to the developers.

Good, but potential security risk by vladan.jovanovic, October 15, 2008
I have been using this plugin for my backups and have been very happy with it. Works out of the box and easy to setup.

Option to delete backups after they have been sent would be very appreciated. Why keep backups on a system that you are backup up anyway? (most databases are on localhost where webserver is)

Owner's reply:
Hi - somehow a few did get these, (got 57 mails and 3 had this problem that the files did not get deleted).

Now fixed in the newest version, so it will be deleted

Cant get better than this ! by kokujin, September 6, 2008

Having seen the glowing reviews below, I was a bit surprised at how much trouble I had.

For GOD'S sake, don't run it in test mode. I did. This seems to cause it to make continuous backups, one after another, which locked up the server to the point where it needed a manual reboot. Of course trying to get to the admin page to turn it off starts the whole process again. It took me five reboots to catch it. Agreed, there is a warning - but I wan't expecting a complete lock-up on a quiet server.

There is no easy way to force a second backup in any given day (for instance if you have just made a critical upload).

There is no easy way to restore the backup data. You are pretty much sent an SQL script and left to figure it out for yourself. Ok for me, but not a user-freindly tool for noobs.

Owner's reply:
1. It can be restored via phpmyadmin in 1 click (import), cant be done more easy :o)

2. There are 2 lines when looking at the component site :

# configure email (dont touch anything else if you dont know what it is)

# Dont use testmode unless you know what you are doing (can crash site)

I think its say it clear :o)

LazyBackup is an easy to use plugin that does what it says.

I currently use it on my site and have it set up for weekly backups. The email that I recieve is very small and tells me when the site has last been backed up.

I would highly recommend this to all Joomla users.

Fixed my issue by theoldfellow, July 14, 2008
My ISP's phpmyadmin is broken, and I needed a way of doing database backups. This extension does everything I want - easily. It's now running on all my sites.

Owner's reply:
Well this is the most simple and easy backup system for database in joomla :o) Happy you can use it.
