S4J Remote Admin
S4J Remote Admin ist a remote content management tool for websites based on the Joomla! CMS. S4J Remote Admin runs locally on your computer as a desktop application. And It's Easier Than Joomla ;) With the capability to group, sort, inline editing and more you can speed up all you work with Joomla. Edit Users, read/write messages, create sections, categories, content, static content, publish on frontpage and more... What does this mean? How much time does it take to post news on your Joomla! site? Using S4J Remote Admin there is no need to log into your Joomla! site, no clicking the “Submit News” link and waiting for the page to refresh, no waiting for the Joomla! Also you can work offline and synchronize later.

over 30 minutes to install , works perfect

Great tool! by baijianpeng, August 4, 2008
Now we finally have a tool to write article locally and send it to remote website to update the content.

I rated this tool 5 stars because it can handle Chinese characters properly. That means it can process all Double Bytes language characters such as Arabic and Japanese and Korean.

Another virtue is this tool will offer Multi-language interface.

Thanks to the authors!

A must try - great alternate to web based data entry! by scotth116, May 10, 2008
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:
S4J Remote Admin is worth the time it takes to register, and is a must try for anyone that would like to experiment with an alternative way to enter data for Sections, Categories, and Articles. I particularly like using the tool when setting up a new site from scratch.

Basically S4J Remote Admin is an inline editor that allows you to sync with your website and work "offline", until you're ready to publish, a.k.a. synchronize, your changes to your Joomla! website.

PROS:

The sleek, quick, intuitive interface of the tool allows for quick editing of the Section, Category, and Article elements. Each of these elements has a detailed, intricate view that once initially synced, is much quicker than navigating and editing with the web based administration.

I have found that this tool is also great when you need a little help "getting your head around" a large site, or when returning to work on a site you haven't administered in a while.

CONS:

The tool lacks a WYSIWYG editor, for those that require one.

I personally would completely forgive this shortcoming if there were some code highlighting in the HTML editor.

Registration on their website and then within the application makes everything a little more difficult, especially if you haven't used the application in a while and you need to add a new site.

You may want to bookmark the installation documentation, so that you can return when you have problems:

Here are the refresher notes I took for myself when I had to relearn the process:

If your website is offline, according to the S4J Remote Admin application:

1. Remember to enable the S4J Remote Admin plugin
2. Remember to "Enable Web Services" under Global Configuration -> System

Also:

3. Remember you have to add URLs for each of your Joomla! websites to your online profile at http://www.software4joomla.com
4. If you have a new site, add it to your online profile, open the local application, then click on register - do this every time you add a new site.

Overall this is a great tool. I hope to see it developed further!

WYSIWYG Editor is now available in 0.8.0

Promising Start by rebrain, May 1, 2008
I tried this tool and I was sceptical about it at first because I saw the version number.
After doing the whole routine with the registration on the Official Homepage and after adding my site to the list i successfully connected to my site and added one of the content items to the site.
All in all this is a very promising tool.
Right now it lacks some features like a WYSIWYG editor(right now it is pure html editor(notepad)).

The program has a really nice look and many skins built in so you get a nice design you like.

The team is really supportive and reachable!

They really care about their customers. Thanks to S4J for this amazing tool and good luck!

Really awesome software for everybody using Joomla! Highly recommend, great for managing articles etc.

Great application by travelhamster, April 8, 2008
Quite new to joomla and all the applications and extensions. But this is definately worth trying. It makes life a lot easier when you have a large site to maintain-build!

Great work by chrisinammo, April 2, 2008
This is a great little app, i have been looking for something similar to BloggX for joomla 1.5 and here it is.

This service is a little confusing to configure on your own, but if you following the provided instructions it is as easy as could be.

if you manage more then one joomla 1.5 site, or you are looking for an offline way to generate content, this is perfect.

a quick email to the developer answered all my questions and even got me a personal demo of the software. great software by great developers.
