IE 7 Compatible !
To update from the previous version, uninstall previous bot and install this one.
Be sure that the /mambot/system folder is writable. If not, change this so the write settings were 777.
**** UPDATE ****
This Plugin does not fix png included in your CSS !
If you want to include png with transparancy in CSS, create two versions of CSS file, one for IE, and one for others.
Then include your CSS file with [if gte IE 5.5000] and [if lte IE 7] tags

I had the same problem as the guys below except I tried it a couple of times. Instead of directly publishing it, I set it up to show up as the last in the list of plugins and then published it and it didn't crash the site.

I still have to understand the reason why but I tried to install it twice on different servers running on J!1.5.1 and I got that frightening "Restricted access" on my sites!
No way out: all URLs blocked!
I had to change the plugin status (not published) directly on the db to get my pages running.

I was mostly impressed with this module, it did fix the png, but for some reason it knocked my template image out by about 5 px?! I haven `t been able to figure out why

At least this is my experience. I needed to change some pathways in the PHP and XML file. It seems that the Joomla 1.0 is using the ./mambots/ path an in Joomla 1.5 this is ./plugins/
After the first try after activating the plugin Joomla didn't work at all any more, got a restricted error message. I had to manually change the PHP code a bit of correctPNG before I even could get onto my own website again
I still need to go through the code because at this moment t only seems to work with PNG files in the headers at this moment and I need to try PNG files in all other locations as well to see what the difference is. I hope I will fix it. I would not advise this when using Joomla 1.5 and not be able to code PHP a bit.
I hope there will be a Joomla 1.5 version soon.

The Mambot worked excellent until IE 7 came out, all PNGs were nicely transparent.
Now IE7 supports this natively. For some reason, this breaks the Emotions in Joomlaboard (PNG smileys). If they are clicked, they do not insert any text in the field, but show their ALT-text on the image instead. Disabling the mambot helps, but then everyone with IE 6 and below will have ugly icons.

I was designing my first "real" website ever using Joomla! and put hours into making my own template - just to see how my header with transparent png images gets messed up in Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6. Unfortunately, roughly 35% of my visitors still use that bugcarrier, so I desparately needed a solution. Correct PNG worked flawlessly for me and took only minutes to download and install!

Ok...here is an update with my experiences. I have also installed the CorrectPNG! mambot and it works great for content within pages, but initially I thought it wasnt working at all because it wasnt working on the PNG's I have in my geo-sync header (www.rockettheme.com). I've worked out that the CorrectPNG! mambot does not work with items that are included on a page via a tag. WHY IS THIS... and more importantly how can we make it work. The developers site is in french so I have no way of passing this information onto the developer, but I have also posted this information on the Rockettheme forums.
Any ideas on a solutions?

You could have a correct cursor if you use a CSS style for your image.
For instance :
.cursorimage {
cursor : hand;
}

Also, at first I did have trouble installing this bot however the installation failed message said that a new directory couldn't be created, I then went and made sure that the /mambot/system folder was writable and it wasn't writable for all users, I changed this so the write settings were 777 and it installed with no problems!

This is a great bot, the only issue I have is with the banner ads in the standard banner component. The standard link finger cursor is not displaying and the normal Windows arrow pointer displays, the link still works but visitors aren't going to know this.
Other then that it's working great!

This plugin would have saved me a lot of work today, if I'd only checked into the site here earlier. The previous version, as I noted earlier, did not work for me but this one sure does!!!!
I agree that this incredible code should be included in the core distribution. Many thanks to the developer.

Using Joomla 1.0.8 (Stable) I could not get it to work. However, it was a nice idea. I have removed this plug-in. Thanks.

If this plugin works as well as expected, that's the kind of feature that should really be submitted by it's author as a candidate for a built-in feature in every Joomla! release.
Such a plugin working behind the scene, definitely user friendly!

It is a great idea, and I really wish I could get it to work.
I am using Joomla! 1.0.8 Stable [ Sunshade ] 26-Feb-2006 05:00 UTC. The bot says it installed ok, but pngs including the bots test image do not show the transparency, they show white when viewed with IE 6.0.2900.2180 Sp2 gdr 050301 1519.
The author's web site is in French, my French is poor admittedly, and I couldn't find any support files there.
Any help files or trouble shooting guides would be appreciated.
