Poor licensing strictures by beededea, August 5, 2008

I just bought and paid for the "customers who bought" module as a trial to show to a customer. Unfortunately it has to be locked to a specific main and test domain. The customer will have these eventually but as his domain names are not yet determined we cannot easily trial this component.

ElearningForce's shop did not say this at purchase time. I must say that these sort of strictures at installation time put me off using the component altogether. I prefer a licence system that lets me install/view the component using a trial key on any system and then allows me to enter my domain-locked key for the live box.

There is also advertising in the module that you cannot turn off. To quote Elearningforce:

"Below each component you can find a sign 'Powered by ElearningForce'. In order to turn it off you need to buy a product 'License update'."

It is unfortunate that Elearningforce do not state in advance that this module has their company advert embedded within and it costs more to turn it off. When I purchase a module I do expect to be able to turn off any developer advertising in the module itself and NOT to have to pay more to do so.

All of our customers is provided with a test license for 100 days. It even can be prolonged for 100 days more. You can use it before entering the main domain address.

The information about this sign is on the main component's description page. It is the first sentance in the component's description. Moreover this service doesn't cost much.
