QContacts is a contact manager component derived from com_contact, the standard component distributed with Joomla!, and offering several additional features. 1) More contact fields: Yahoo Messenger Id and Skype Id to provide your visitors with an alternate way to send a message to the contact. 2) Up to 6 custom fields can be added to the contact form. You can choose each field's type (text, textarea, radio buttons, checkbox, drop down list) and whether the field is optional or required. 3) An anti-spam verification image (captcha) can be added to the form.
Contacts data and categories inserted in com_contact can be imported into QContacts. Online documentation is available at the website.

Search plugin to make QContacts managed contacts searchable with the standard Joomla search box.
Sh404SEF plugin for users who want to use Sh404SEF to generate sef urls for QContacts.

- captcha appearance can now be fully controlled from component configuration: captcha width/height, code length, font/font size, text and background color, vertical and arc lines on/off, lines color.
- More types for custom fields: text, textarea, radio buttons, checkbox, drop down list.
-Custom *and* standard fields width and order on the form can be set from component configuration: custom fields are no longer mandatorily positioned after standard fields.
- All contact fields can be displayed in list of contacts viewable from Contact Category Layout links. Each column width and order can be set.

This is a great tool and should be to the default joomla core!!
Works the same way like joomla contacts so the user dont need any special knowledge!
Also the integrated captcha works out of the box! no hacks and additional plugins!!
The possibility to add custom fields is perfect BUT!
It would be even better to be able to make a contact for the registered users.
No need to typing email and name.
Their email and username (instead of name) to be added automatically (from their registered information)
Both email and usename to be locked so they cant change it.
Dont know if this is possible to happen but if yes,
then it will take it to an other lavel!!

Terrific - I installed this and once tested - had it up and running with a CAPTCHA very quickly on the Contact US form - buh-bye spam!
I am running SH404SEF - so had to install the plugin for QContacts before the CAPTCHA image would show up - but after that it's a breeze.
Also make sure that the global CAPTCHA setting is turned on - to do that in J1.5 - select the QContacts component then hit the Parameters icon (top right of screen) |

I love how I can modify the Captcha field. I often find those Captcha letters ugly with other extensions. This one is actually great. If someone could explain me how to modify the Captcha letters with other extensions (which don't have the Captcha parameters build in) I'd really appreciate that.
I like to modify the qcontacts.css file too.
A thank-you-page or message would certainly be userfriendly. Otherwise people send emails a thousand times because they think the contact form doesn't work. |

Million thanks latenight, its fabulous can't describe in words. Installation great, captcha lovely - worked straight from the box.
I would recommend Joomla team to make this as their default, due to the built-in CAPTCHA.

First I must say, that installation and parameter setting were easy to do and worked after the first try. The new search integration works fine as well.
Although the functionality is appreciated very much, I still miss very important features, i.e.
**Sorting of contact list (currently it is not sorted)
**multiple assignment of categories to contacts (currently you need to multiply contacts to show them in different categories)
**Front End adding of contacts |

I improved the Contacts portion of my site with this superb QContacts product. Sized easily, plenty of variables and has a KEEN ~captcha~ with lots of choices to suit you. I made an error in set up (use QContacts/Category not Contacts, sheesh) Massimo is excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and the event turned into a learning experience not a mess. well worth a strong donation to see this product thrive! |

GREAT COMPONENT.. that's all I have to say.
I downloaded this comp initially with IE7, but it would not install, wrote the author and he got back to me to let me know that I need to use another browser. Used opera to download it and it installed perfectly.

If you would like even more new features, the current Google Summer of Code project "Contact Directory" is also another good replacement for the built-in Joomla Contact Component.
It offers some cool features like multi-categories (each contact can belong to multiple categories) and Alpha Filtering (filter results based on the starting letter).
It also has CAPTCHA support.
QContact however is great if you are looking for something very much like the built-in contact component but you just want the additional fields and CAPTCHA support.
Great work! Attachments I think would also be a pretty cool feature! |

I was looking for a spam-free contact form for joomla 1.5 when I came across the QContacts. I am happy to recommend it, because of its reliability and additional features it brings.
I would be even happier if I could add an attachment field to the form. So guys, are you thinking of that?
