This is the best FREE extension but it stopped working for me after a week or so for no reason what so ever. It just said I wasn't logged in, everything else worked though fine. Not sure what the deal is. Oh well guess I gotta shell out $60 for a paid version now :9

Front End bug by itchibahn, April 22, 2008

Categories won't show from the front end while adding new recipe, so couldn't save it. Works fine from the backend.

Its so easy to install and works great!
I was looking for simple and the 1 that works. I would sure recommend this to everyone.
As pointed out by user "dagr" it does have 2 issues:
Bugs:
- The English language version had some minor errors ("minuts", "preperation", etc.) that can be easily fixed by editing the ..../language/english.php file.
- The generated PDF file is missing the last ingredient (fixed by adding the line: "$pdf->ezText( $txt3, 9 );" before the "// PREPARAZIONE" comment line some 2/3 down the ricettario.html.php file.

As a class tutorial by scrappy, February 8, 2008
|
I am actually using this on my site as a tutorial component for craft classes, and it has just about everything I need.
I changed some of the images and the wording, and am quite pleased with how its turning out. Adding the images was not easy for e though - either through the back end or front end. At the backend, after clicking "upload" my page would just go blank even though the task bar says "done". I ended up having to FTP the images and creating links to everything. If this could be resolved, it would be perfect for me.

It would be good if it worked by MMCritter, December 19, 2007

It installed well, recipes add easily, however, it keeps telling me "Recipes pending, it is waiting for approve by an admin". I have approved them in the admin screen. I've turned OFF the "requires approval" option... What more can I do?

An amazing recipe manager that looks and feels professional and easy to use. Recipes can be categorized, add pictures, ingredients and instructions are professionally shown with options to print, e-mail, PDF, etc. Logged in users can add their own recipes, too! An excellent recipe manager. My only gripe is that the total quantity of ingredients is limited, so is tricky to add really complicated recipes to (like chili). :)

I have just installed this component in Joomla 1.0.12 and did not encouter any problems at all. The method (Instructions) and notes are now included in the package and work well. I like the way this project is going and look very much forward to future releases. Multi-language support seems to automatically detect the language in use. Thank you and good luck.

This is a simple and technically unsophisticated extension.
My primary gripe with it is that it provides NO CHANCE of migrating recipes from other environments using one of the pseudo-standard data exchange formats.
With only two database tables, it indicates a lack of understanding about designing applications of moderate complexity.
I made it work OK with Joomla 1.0.12, but I don't think I will continue to use it because of the difficulty transferring more than 1,000 recipes from another CMS.

would've been great with support by yuliandini, April 26, 2007

this component has the potential of being a really great component. It's easy to set up, and once you get over the little quirks, it works and looks beautiful.
i still couldn't figure out how to upload pictures from the backend (haven't tried frontend yet) ... keeps coming up with a blank page ... so ..
i just wish there was a forum or support provided with it. As far as I know they're all in italian, and i don't speak an ounce of italian.

Nice extension by dagr, April 13, 2007

I installed this component quite easily and it works well. I appreciate its simplicity.
Suggested future enhancements:
- Add an "origin" field (e.g. Italian, Indian, Chinese, etc.)
- Allow multiple (well, 2 at least) category cross-referencing.

Great component, but somehow I don't get how I can let users add recipes. I must be missing something...
