The out of the box installation of Joomla is not fully optimized for search engine optimising features (Search engine marketing). Although Joomla offers a lot you will discover that some extra functionalities are needed to get the best out of the Joomla installation. Running 1.0.15 with openSef and Joomla SEF Patch extended version support (paid version). And Its like night and day.
Currently My main page is ranked 3rd on google, 1st on yahoo and 5-7 on MSN for my main keyword... but the rest if my site links can hardly be found on the search sites first page. Hopefully this will change that a bit!
Installed without a hitch (I read the instructions), works exactly as advertised. I will be selling this to my joomla website clients. Great Work!
Seriously this should be built into the 1.0 series of Joomla, I don't know how i lived without it before. |

This is an excellent addition to Joomla 1.5.
Remember to go through your content and delete all meta tag descriptions and keywords from your content prior to installing this patch. Otherwise the old meta tags and any news ones you add to content will create a TWO sets of descriptions and two sets of keywords. You want to avoid this. |

This is the best enhancement I've seen for Joomla yet! Simple to install and HIGHLY configurable, making top notch SEO much easier than ever with Joomla. I installed it on a 1.51 site and was able to setup the metaconfig.xml file in minutes to generate fully optimized meta tags. I'd highly recommend this component to anyone who wants top ranking on the search engines. |

I installed this on a new site I just set up today now my admin 404's. I tried to use the redo files and I still get 404's.
I'm now going to have to reinstall joomla because I can't get it working again. |

Finally Joomla! can be made truly search-engine friendly.
I really like the prompt support, it was no problem for them to get in depth for my initial problem that turned out to be a file permission issue.
The price is near to nothing in my opinion.

I'm really very impressed with the ease of use of this product. It adds a few extra fields in the content item and that's it. Couldn't be easier.
The support (for the paid version in my case) is absolutely excellent too, I had answers to all my queries on the forum within minutes.
Will definitely be buying more licenses for other installations. Highly recommended ! |

The Joomla SEF patch, in my opinion, should be included as part of the joomla core pack.
I have created websites using simple html, and found with joomla that the META title and description capabilities let me down.
Running this patch, along with OpenSEF has allowed me to try and recreate what I had with by basic, but precise HTML websites. |

I agree with other reviewers that this extension should be incorporated into Joomla! What it does is change an address like this: http://localhost:85/writing/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=1 to this: http://localhost:85/writing/content/view/12/1/ - after you activate SEO in the configuration panel. Don't forget to create an .htaccess file first. If there are any problems the fault will lie in one of the htaccess options. I could not get SEO to work until I installed this patch.
The next step is to install a SEF extension to create even more intelligent, content based URLs. |

I have used SEF Patch on a great deal of sites and works every time for me. Thank you for a easy to install and use component.
Only think I would want to change is have it by default go to INDEX and FOLLOW instead of default Hide Robots.txt |

What else is there to say.
Why would you NOT use this?
Along with Community Builder, JoomBackup and a few others, this should be part of any Joomla install.
It's unfortunate it has to be a hack, I think it should be part of core. |

This patch is amazing excellent ! I agree that it should be part of the official Joomla core code.
Only one disadvantage:
My website was built with Chinese version of Joomla 1.0.10, after installed the patch, some tags and works on the backend return back to English. So I suggest that author of this patch should contact those translators and work out the translated version of this patch for each kind of translated version of Joomla.
