This modules allows for publishing content items or articles in areas other than mainBody(). Choose if you want to display a single item, all items from a category, all items from a section, or a number of content items/categories/sections specified by a comma separated list of ids. Simply enter the content item ID in the module's parameters field, assign a position to the module, and publish it. You can copy the module and assign a different name, position and contentitem id to the copy. Also includeds a "Read more" link option. With the "merge items" option you can merge multiple content items (/categories/sections) into one document for print and pdf. (Forum: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=36326, but please ask questions on my blog)
By now there is also a version for 1.5 (native), I would be glad for some feedback. The 1.5 version does not yet include the "merge items" option.
Download Links are in the sidebar of my homepage ("Content Item Module" or "Module for 1.5" respectively).

Easy, simple, and importantly it do the job. Now i can easily place content as a module to any position i want. This module is really helpful if u have custom-made template.
This module should be in the Joomla core.

This does a great job or re deploying existing articles, or categories. It does exactly what it says it does.
I suggest that thsi is a design tool, with some loss of functionality.
It is badly let down by the complete lack of documentation, i.e. a simple instruction manual would make it a much better contribution to the project. I managed to work out how it works, and it is in fact very simple. Unfortunately the key to that simplicity i.e. a step by step how do you get an ID and use it, how do you control the lay out, and how do you have more than one... would all be best put into a tutorial or simple text "how to use this" ... read me file.
The biggest downside, once you grasp the simple nature of the mod, is that the articles can not be edited on the front end.
I am sure there is a way round this, but as of yet I have not worked it out. For this mod to be really fully functional, that has to be sorted. The back end of joomla is really too much for many people, a simple front end article editor and creator is al they want and need.... this mod helps with the design, but kneecaps the functionality, so perfect if you are gung ho for the back end, but less useful if you want admins to edit from the front end only.
All in all, thumbs up and thanks for a great mod, if you can add the edit article option, then it will be perfect. =8¬)

This is my first review for any Joomla Extension... I have used quite a few, but felt compelled to write one for this module since it's something I feel should have been a built-in feature.
Great work - I am sure I'll be able to use this on all projects going forward.
Just a quick note, when using the "trim" feature and setting the number of characters, it helps to code in a "..." after the trimmed text, since I noticed many times it cuts off in the middle of a word (this is something that I think can be improved as well - a quick function to trim after the word might do the trick.)
If you open helper.php and look for the if($trim) section, you should be able to modify the output with "..." after the trimmed text, which is what I did (for anyone that is interested.)
Thanks again for a quality module!

This is a great extension. Almost a must have in my mind. I have used it extensively with my front page.
The large number of parameters on this module make it super configurable, something I really needed. However, I see no need for the large number of tables. To get this module really to where I needed it, I had to remove quite a few tables from the code.

This is one of the modules I use the most when developing websites. It is very useful and works great.
This allows you to mix components with contents or other components on the same page - great stuff!

To recommend this module I had to signed up an account. This module is THAT good that its worth the trouble!
What's perfect about this module is that it also allows you to put "randomised" or "Latest" articles in certain Section/Category in Module positions.

This module works perfectly, easy to install and easy to use.
It gives me the freedom to position content in any position i like. And because of that i use it al the time. With this module you can even forget to put mosmainbody in your template.
Thank you for that! i can recommend it to every one!
