This modules allows for publishing content items or articles in areas other than mainBody(). Choose if you want to display a single item, all items from a category, all items from a section, or a number of content items/categories/sections specified by a comma separated list of ids. Simply enter the content item ID in the module's parameters field, assign a position to the module, and publish it. You can copy the module and assign a different name, position and contentitem id to the copy. Also includeds a "Read more" link option. With the "merge items" option you can merge multiple content items (/categories/sections) into one document for print and pdf. (Forum: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=36326, but please ask questions on my blog)
By now there is also a version for 1.5 (native), I would be glad for some feedback. The 1.5 version does not yet include the "merge items" option.
Download Links are in the sidebar of my homepage ("Content Item Module" or "Module for 1.5" respectively).

A MUST HAVE! by JasynL1977, December 19, 2007

With the exception of having to fix a line of code (as it is still an alpha at the time, this is a bit understandable), I just could not imagine having a Joomla site without this module. It seems like a no-brainer that something like this would be a part of the Joomla core. It's such a simple thing, but I just did not see anything else out there that does this: allow you to put content/category/section items in a module. Anyhow, I highly recommend this module as a necessity for any Joomla Web site.

This surpasses the dooky limited Latest News Module that bundles with core. This mod takes it to a whole new level. I am shocked Joomla core didn't make their News links module function this way. The concern is many people don't use Joomla as an advanced BLOG site. That's for Word Press. Joomla is used because of its flexibility to use its blog content framework to display content in an orderly way for a standard company or organization site allowing for simple content management. With that said we NEED the ability to specify the category or section to be displayed in any given module.
BRAVO!!!

I'm not often given to reviewing but I have to say this is a first class product.
I'm using it to patches a hole in the Seyret provision by rotating youtube video players embedded in content using jw all videos.
Just point it at the category and every visitor gets a random playable video from my favourites.
This should be part of the core, no question.

This rocks! This is Perfect! by ianwork, September 11, 2007

Wow, this is the only module I have been able to find that allows you to display multiple, random intros. Every other module, whether third party or Joomla core (eg: Newsflash) only allows you to display MULTIPLE items by ordering of latest, popular or title, but not RANDOM.
Thanks so much for this seemingly simple feature that no one has though to include.

This needs to be implemented in the core Joomla 1.5!!! It is a need, not an option :)
Thank you for making it!!

Very Productive Component by jciconsult, August 23, 2007

This will be one of my must-have components for a transition of several sites to Joomla 1.5. The only warning with the component is that a disconcertingly large number of temporary content items are created if you use the merge option to merge content from several items.
This is a really useful product and should be included in the core.

This is the 2nd content display module I have tried and I must, say it is everything you need. Being very new to Joomla, I find this module is extremely easy to use, it does not overcomplicate things, does not braak any of my templates and above all is light weight.
Thanks Eike

This is a great module as said below. I was also looking for this option when started with Joomla and was surprised is not included. So now it is. :) Thanks for your work Eike!

I think this is a bug! by ozangov, July 4, 2007

Hi first of all the idea is wonderful, thank you very much...
Its the titles, if the length of the title exceeds the width of column its not passing to second line, its pushing the column and droping the main section under the side columns. Actually it is ok with the content intro writings, because they are continuing from the second line..
Thank you very much again...

Just what I was looking for. Hard to beleive that Joomla doesn't provide the ability to put content in places other than the mainbody, but this remedies that issue.
Great job.

Table mess by turok, April 23, 2007

I wanted to use this module to display SmoothGallery mambot in the header, but I am thoroughly disappointed. There is extremely large amount of unnecessary table tags, just to show one content item. Can we please have tableless option, please please please
Thank you Owner's reply: While this is a valid point I still have to say that this is a feature, not a bug. The module uses the functions from the core content component to make the module output look exactly like the mainbody and since the core uses tables the modules uses tables as well (it justs adds one additional table in "merged view").

I like it, but miss some options by rued, April 18, 2007

This is maybe the best module today, for helping out on customizing the layout of my frontpage.
But I' missing two options from the Flexcontent Module, and that is the possibility of selecting Frontpage items instead of just section and category ID's - starting from a given number to avoid duplicates. A merge of these two modules would be really great..
The layout and missing thumbs in Flexcontent module is a drawback, and makes this one the best for now.
