I'm a newb at this so I can only tell you what little I know.
It installed and was set up easily.
Google recognized the code and will begin generating info for me in 24 hours.
Other plugins simply did not work where this one did.

Tested component on development server, it does not remove the code upon uninstall of plugin, places code in head tag not at the end of the , this is a generally poor plugin, is there a 0 star rating?

In order to track all visitors to a site, a mambot being used to insert tracking code into a Joomla site ideally needs to be a system mambot. Sadly this Google Analytics mambot is a content mambot and so it will not include the code in any third party component areas of a site.
I had this running on my site for a long time, but it was only ever logging about 10% of the traffic visiting my site. I know this because I compared the data with the server's own logs.
I've now switched to the new "Google Analytics Bridge" mambot that is a system mambot and should therefore include the code on every page of a site, even third party component based areas.

Works great but... by advitel, June 3, 2007

For those who don't know what it is...
Google Analytics (http://www.google.com/analytics/) is a tool which is able to analyse your site details (for free). Just create an account for yourself, fill out the site details and copy the site specific xx-xxxx-x code into this mambot.
After a while (it can take some hrs) your site is analysed every hour and you will find your details at the google analytics website just after logging in via your account!
Great stuff guy's!
Thx.

Doesn't insert code if theres a form on the page by eduardo_seelow, April 12, 2007
|
Only problem I found so far is that the for urchin.js won't be appended to the page if theres a form on the page at all. For some reason when it detects s tags it doesn't append itself.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems? I've tried it on two different sites and they work if theres no forms on the page but doesn't append the code if theres a form present on the page.

Hmmm.... Why is this extension here? by msociety, December 25, 2006

It's a wonderful idea and really easy to install. but lists code in the head tag. Nothing is tracked by google that way. Unpublish extension does not remove code. Uninstall extension does not remove code. So... I'm stuck with unwanted code in my template now???? Let me know if you know how to remove :)

If it does not work... by baba, November 26, 2006

I have had it installed on one site and it works ok whereas on another it does not.
As Mercury above suggested ( and I really thank him for his suggestion!!!) if it does not work do not struggle on understanding why, simply install the module named module_html and copy and paste the whole code Goggle provides you with. It works.
Given that you might need to have more codes in your pages as your site grows simply remember to rename the original module_html with a name that remembers you that that one has the google analytics code so that if you need againg that module working for other codes you just need to copy the module, rename it and copy the other code you need to have in

Works only with content items, afaik by luddet, September 27, 2006

This bot has one major and one minor flaw as far as I can tell.
* The minor one is that it inserts the tracking snippet in the the head of the document. These types of codes should be placed at the end.
* The major flaw is that it only works with standard joomla content items since it hooks into the "onPrepareContent" event. This means that it won't be inserted into other components. Not even Joomla core components such as Contacts or Search.
If those two things could be fixed it would be a great bot, but in it's current state it doesn't perform as advertised.

Very tempramental by jackbremer, September 27, 2006

This works for me on one site, not at all on another and sometimes on another!
It puts the tracking code at the top of the page, but Google tells us it should go just before the tag. On the site I have this working on, I can see it in the source, and on the others it just doesn't appear at all - on one of them it started working randomly after a while, and has now disappeared again!
I think I'll put it into the template code instead of using this plugin as I don't trust it - shame, was SO EASY to install!
(And yes, I have put my tracking code in, AND published it!)

OR you could just use the mod_HTML module and cut andpaste your one-line Google Analytics tracking code into it instead. Very straightforward and if you unpublish it the code disappears.

Good but confused to French interface by baijianpeng, June 1, 2006

I do not know there is an English version, but downloaded a French version via the downloading likn on this page. It is very simple to install, set up and publish, but the French is very boring. Please make it easier for us to choose the English version, thank you.

Works Perfectly - Great Little Bot :) by zenboomerang, April 9, 2006

I downloaded the bot yesterday afternoon and installing it was simple and easy.
Once installed, it gave helpful instructions on setting up your Google Analystic ID and a handy reminder to publish the bot; to make sure it is activated.
This morning (12 hours later) I checked by Google Analystic account and it had already published a report for my web sites.
Thanks JoomlaFrance,
Andy
PS: The download link takes you to the Developer site, there you have the option to download either the en.zip or the fr.zip. If you have problems with reading French, I would suggest that you download the "English" version - en.zip :P
PPS: English is native to less than 10% of the worlds population.
In the America's it comes third behind Brazilian (Portugese) and Spanish.

French? English to ...! by Lennart, March 30, 2006

For the english translation, look at http://forge.joomla.org/sf/go/projects.analytics/frs.analytics_bot
It would be easier to point to this website instead to the french homebase.

Why only french? by Lennart, March 30, 2006

There are 6 billion people on this planet. Not al of them are speaking french. Why is the whole extension in french? I'm not anti-french, but the most french people refuse to speak english, german or dutch. Ok, respect your local tradition, but make your work also accesible for other languages.
What if i wrote a really good component in ... Swahili? Or Frys?
