It will let you provide SMS and WAP functionality to your users , straight out of the box. The component runs on the back of the the mysmsaddress and Clickatell gateways. Using it you can turn your Joomla CMS into an SMS marketing tool or portal, provide your users with complete SMS, WAP Picture messaging and WAP MP3 downloads . Features include: Administration End - Full administration console, Language Manager , SMS Provider Balance Query , Subscriber Management , Bulk SMS , SMS History , Send Single SMS Messages , Free SMS Message Limits , Frontend - Registered User Setup , Offer SMS To Your Users , Update Details , Send SMS Messages , Send Group Messages , Manage Group Members , View SMS History , View SMS Credits , Incoporates AJAX technology. The component works with all PHP4/5 and Joomla 1.* and requires MySQL 4.1 or above, in addition if SSL and CURL options are used then the openssl and curl modules must be installed on your server.
Note : IIS users will be unable to use SSL with FOpen due to restrictions in the default IIS configuration.
Mambotastic SMS is available under GNU/GPL License, and is free of charge.

New version RC3 (March 2007) with Joomla 1.0.13: working
It is very frustrating at first:
Help is NOT accessible via admin section (even when logging at mambostatic from another tab), so you have to crawl mambotasic web site (http://www.mambotastic.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=5&id=73&Itemid=47)
But then you discover how to get the user access from frontpage.
The only stuff I didn't find now is SMS in new user registration. It's a feature but I can't get how to activate SMS activation code (like clickatell). |

It is a very nice component, installed well, easy to set up, and I use it often. Only the sending image/mp3 by WAP is not working. But the basics: sending cheap SMS is working good and fast, by user and by group. Can't wait for the new beta's. Support is however poor. Forum is not updated, by mail I get no answers. But very promising !! |

This extension has to be a joke because there are so many errors when you try to do basic things like add or delete members or groups.
On the one hand the coding looks very professional in a lot of areas yet there are so many basic errors where variables are not initialized properly.
It feels like it was written by two programmers and only one knew what he was doing!
I was so frustrated at one point it occurred to me that they had deliberately hacked the code because the errors are so so basic yet its a very sophisticated component.
What for RC6 or 7 before trying to use this you will thank me later! |

I have the same trouble and they never replay, it is not working at all.
Even one there site you will not find any doc.
I hade the same bugs like richardfv.
My advice don not use it there is no support at all |

but very buggy when attempting to enter security code in front end or back end
unable select users to subscribe
no support from creator
bad component sorry
if at least we could get answers it will be then a way to make it better, until then byebye |

Easy to use, but read carefully quite a lot of support, informations, etc.. if you want to intensively use it and, yet again, of course, to install it!
It's much cheaper than using my cellphone. Of course, it depends of your cellphone operator. But for me, it's up to 3,75 times cheaper! This component seems to be a nice friend of Clickatell!
Mambostatic itself is well builded. Of course in beta state but already a great and must have component if you send SMS times to times. |

it would be nice if support existed for non-pay SMS gateways such as http://keakaj.com/sms/sms.cgi or http://toolbar1.google.com/send/sms/index.php
otherwise, it is *very* simple to setup and appears to be well developed and documented. props - nice work. |
