3 bugs related to reordering the documents in the Administration back-end have been resolved in the version 0.9.6. We're not going to release a new version for only 3 bug fixes, therefore if you have downloaded this version of RubberDoc prior to Aug. 26, please download and install it again.
You can now reorder the documents and skin the list of download links generated within the articles. There are also a whole set of new parameters which allow you to better configure your document download pages.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! for the star ratings and the kind reviews. We have been really busy taking care of Client projects, but we do read your comments left on our blogs and consider the suggestions for the upcoming released.
Thank you!
= WHAT IS RubberDoc? =
RubberDoc is a simple Document Management extension that helps you keep your docs in a row! Using this extension, uploading and creating file download links within the articles is quite painless and easy.
= SOME FEATURES =
* Ajax Multiple File Upload
* Ability to embed document links within the articles
example1: {docs}doc-one, doc-two, doc-alias-goes-here{/docs}
example2: {docs category="category-alias-goes-here"}
result would be an html list of hyper links with file titles
* Assign documents to categories
* Generates RSS feed for every category (you can blog in files!)
* files are stored with hashed names, but when you download the files they are named after the specified titles and aliases in the back end.
= The RubberDoc.zip package contains the following files =
* com_rubberdoc_v_0.9.5.zip (use this to install the component)
* mod_rubberdoc.zip (Shows the recently added docs)
* html.zip (contains the template overwrite files if you are using a CSS only template)
* ReadMe.txt (contains some instructions and credits)
* The GPL License
You need php 5.2.0 or later to be able to use this extension. We'd really appreciate your constructive review and feedback on ways to improve the RubberDoc.

What it does, it does well. Very impressed with the ease of use and install. It would be nice to see a little more functionality out of it, like user uploads, display Docs as content when accessed through the list view rather than download, and more restrictions on access to files. All in all though works great and looks good.
Good Job guys

Nice idea but this is not compatible with sh404SEF (SEO/SEF) urls

I discovered that when using rubberdocs with Internet Explorer v6, documents can be downloaded fine, but not OPENed and VIEWED ONLINE. The document seems to download and when the respective application (e.g. PDF or Excel) then opens this cannot find the document.
We tested that on quite a large number of our workstations and laptops here.
Just wondering if this is an issue that is known and worked on or do we just accept this for the moment, or are we doing something wrong in the set up?
Otherwise a GREAT extension with exactly the right mix of usability and, functionality and complexity,
Nik

Its beauty, I feel like i had achieved something using this tool.
Hat's off to the developer.
I wish I wish just a front-end upload option for registered users.
Thanks

I tried, and would be great, but the permission to download the file it seems not work good enough: if I copy the address of the file I can paste in address bar and I can download files else if I'm not logged-in.
I'd like to be sure that no-one can download the file I don't want... I think it's not difficult alot to do it, and this component will be near to be perfect.

Great Extension! Elegant and simple, easy to install and to operate.
Just missing two features (tested V0.9.6):
- Front-end upload for registered users
- Display all documents to users, even those docs which can be downloaded only by registered/special users.
Keep up that excellent work!

This is really a simple download manament component. It can work. And it can support Chinese characters in Title and Description fields.
The flaw is: please don't use title-alias for the content plugin, since this is too difficult to keep precise. I suggest to use File ID in the component.
Please include the usage of the plugin in the About page or the parameter page of the plugin.
Please add multi-language support for backend interface.

Well with docman not going to 1.5 (I think) I was searching for another easy document / file manager for downloads on my site.
This works great. It works out of the box.

RubberDoc is a great boon. It was easy to install and set up, integrates very well into your website (there are a number of ways to list or show off your uploaded documents) and has given me zero errors so far.

Hi,
I love the simplicity of this - it just works straight away and is simple yet powerful. I know one small bug-fix is on the way and I would also like to see:
* the documents listed in the same order as document manager
* the addition of nested categories!
But it's still great with the potential to get even better. Thanks for a great extension!!

It's easy to install and it works great. I do agree that it would be FANTASTIC to have the categories and subcategories option.

I like this extension a lot. It is very clean, fast, and easy to use. In addition to some of the comments that have already been made, it would be nice to have the ability to nest categories.

I love the ability to upload multiple files.
Very simple to use!
A couple of things I would like to see implemented into this would be to:
* Have the ability to select which category the multiple files fall into when uploading. Or ability to select a category and then upload into it.
* Have the ability to upload from the front end aswell .
* and perhaps have options to have the file size, date uploaded visible on front end.
Top work!

I was looking for a solid, easy to use and most of all a good looking doc manager. For a couple of month I've was using DocMan then jumped over to Remository and ended up with RubberDoc. This component is brilliant. It does an excellent job on a very busy news site. Btw, the zip includes a module, a content plugin and search plugin. The only thing on my wish-list is Joomfish support. Maybe smb has done a contentelement for rubberdoc, if not then I'll do one by myself. Thanks for this great component.

I've installed this beta component on a new 1.15 site on which I'm currently working, and have found it to be very stable and elegant. The component installed swiftly and flawlessly, as did the module and plugin. I've uploaded about 50 documents, into about six categories, displayed them on pages via the plug-in, on pages via the module, and as a directory of documents though a menu link. I have encountered no issues.
What I love about this component is it's clean display. Just lists of documents, or a single document, precisely where I want them in content. The interface is clean, sensible and stable. The RSS feature will be very nice as I go forward.
Big thumbs up from me on this component. Very nicely done! Definitely one to watch as it continues to be refined. My new site will go live in about three weeks, and I'm seriously considering letting this component go live too. I'm confident in it. Congratulations on a very nice contribution.
