Brilliant, Thanks!! by NinjaForce, March 8, 2008

I tried quite a few galleries, and although I quite like Gallery 2 with the Joomla bridge, it was annoying that I couldn't link directly to the image path for use in articles.
This little gem has solved that problem nicely. The instructions were easy enough to follow.
If you're going to try Gallery 2, then you need this little plugin as much as you need the bridge!
Thanks,
CB

Very good plugin! by uncletaz, January 30, 2008

I just installed the plugin, and it works briliantly! Just follow the wiki in the description (top of this page). And you are fine.
If using jce: edit the config.php with the correct location of your Gallery 2 installation:
$g2ic_gallery2_path = "gallery2/";
the above setting is correct if your location is: http://yourdomain.com/gallery2/
Good luck and enjoy!

Nice integration with Joomla by GeertL, October 22, 2007

This is a very nice tool to integrate my Gallery2 pictures with the articles I'm posting. Nice and simple install well documented.
I still have one little remark, the lightbox feature doesn't seem to be working as promised. Pictures are opening in a new window instead of opening on the traditional lightbox way - beeing the overlay with the shaded background.
Probably this can be fixed quit easy.

Having bridged Gallery2 into Joomla 1.0.13 with the Gallery2 Bridge component all I needed to do then was be able to display images from the Gallery in my content. This plugin fo the Tinymce editor did the job admirably.
It was a little fiddly to install as you have to manually edit some paths in the config file and also the tinymce.php file; but once this was done it all worked very well.
The range of features in this plugin are impressive and it was well worth the little time it took to install.

The latest version (3) works out of the box, only edit 1 file for the language you wish to use.
I've used it with JCE the editor, integration with the great gallery 2.0 is very powerful lot of options thumbs up!

Great tool.
- it has added a bit of colour to my new items!
- took me a while to figure out where to install it for TinyMCE:
/mambots/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/
- you put the 'g2image' directory in here.

The only thing I would change so far, is an easier way to set the path. As another reviewer stated, it's pretty hard to find the correct file to change, but once I found it, I was up and going in a minute.
Perhaps if there was a way to set this in the backend instead of editing a file, it would be easier.

I tried it using both the embedded gallery2 and with using external gallery2 and it works perfectly. Using with JCE but it should work with tinyMCE, too. Does require editing a config.php file (if you are using an embedded gallery) which the instructions were not a lot of help locating (in my case /mambots/editors/jce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/g2image/ - ouch! that took a while to find!) but it was clear what changes to make once you get there.

Great little product, works fine, a bit difficult to install, newbie would have difficulty, but definitely worth it.
I have this installed in TinyMCE and will put it into JCE as soon as I can find (useful) instructions on how to do that
Works without any issues for me.
