SQL Dumper is simple solution for backup of your MySQL database. Really easy to work with, highly secured. It doesn't matter how big is the database you want to export or import, this component is able to manage it without any problems. NOTE: All files are saved in administrator/backups/ folder. If you want to restore a (import) a database, the SQL file should be also there. The script is produced by Sypex (Sypex Dumper Lite, distributed under GNU/GPL) and is integrated to Joomla! by Ivo Apostolov. Version 2.0 now supports ANY database host and ANY charset. Please read the documentation before installing: http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/696/11702/SQLDumperDocumentation.pdf Version 2.0 works on 1.5 with legacy mode on. Version 3.0 (listed separately in the extensions directory) works on Joomla! 1.5 only, without the need of legacy mode.

This is simple to use and to install. It works better than phpmyadmin. Using the latter, content I developed locally appeared with all kinds of special characters when I restored the database on my hosting site. SQL Dumper got around that problem and I can accomplish backups and updates in fewer keystrokes and primarily through the Joomla Administrative Panel.

Good component, but it requires that an administrator starts the backup manually. Why do not you guys work together with Jcron project? Just allow Jcron activate the backup.
best,

It dumped OK. But when I tried to import into SQL it just gave a bunch of errors. This could be a problem with SQL itself though and how every host likes to install a diffrent version of mySQL

Excellent backup system: easy to setup; does what it is supposed to do.
Just ISSUE/BUG: on my system the option "Delete backup file" doesn't work: backups stay in the "media" folder instead of being deleted.

Because a I am fairly new to database driven sites I wish I had come across this earlier, saving me the days and days of re-entering data from my html site.
Good tool with no instalation problems. Well Done!

Merely uploading the dumper.php file into the root folder will not sfufice for thie component... All files accomanying this .zip file are needed for proper funtionality. Make sure to make your root folder writable before install... If you are unsure of how to install, refer to the link below.

Works great but I did have to change the localhost in the dumper.php... once I did that it worked like a charm and I also downloaded all my other databases on the same server account... saved me a lot of time and frustration... if you get error messages go to this forum topic:

On some machines phpmyadmin is very slow - and of course tends to gag on large files. This is much faster and so far stable ;) Good work...
