SQL Dumper is simple solution for backup of your MySQL database. Really easy to work with, highly secured. It doesn't matter how big is the database you want to export or import, this component is able to manage it without any problems. NOTE: All files are saved in administrator/backups/ folder. If you want to restore a (import) a database, the SQL file should be also there. The script is produced by Sypex (Sypex Dumper Lite, distributed under GNU/GPL) and is integrated to Joomla! by Ivo Apostolov. Version 2.0 now supports ANY database host and ANY charset. Please read the documentation before installing: http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/696/11702/SQLDumperDocumentation.pdf Version 2.0 works on 1.5 with legacy mode on. Version 3.0 (listed separately in the extensions directory) works on Joomla! 1.5 only, without the need of legacy mode.

This is a very hand program. But installation needs a little push: copy dump.php to your root and make certains administrator/backups is fully writable.

Yes that is true, if your root folder is not writable. I included this in the documentation for version 2.0.

I wanted a simple sql dump like this to backup my database. This does just that. To fix the server location, just edit the file \joomla\dumper.php. Change the local host to your sql server name.

Maybe in future version you can read the configuration.php and loads its variables from there.

Reading such data from configuration.php is risky from security point of view.

The new version 2.0 works with any server name through a simple settings file.

I found a forum post (http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?topic=49007.new;topicseen#new) about this component and the deloper answered fast to my problem. I had to set some rights in the root of my joomla installation. Now the component works great!

I can no see it is an easy, fast, good component which simply does do the trick of backup and restore!

I tried to install this one. Installation was succefull, but after selecting the component the page was not found. Not really a review.... Maybe the download contains the wrong files? I like to try it!

Known issue, that was included in the documentation for the version 2.0
