This extension has some very good sides. However I find it is lacking a long-term overview of visit numbers. Also the country selection is totally inaccurate and pretty much useless. More, the astatspro is causing serious interference with joomfish translation - blocking the translation of some modules and somehow stopping the refreshing of translated pages. The support is terrible: I have found that writing support is like sending emails into a black hole - no replies have ever come back.

Great component except I cannot access the admin area after upgrade to latest version of Joomla. As support is in german I unfortunately have been unable to understand a possible fix posted via their forum.

We're using astatPRO at work, on our business site (including e-commerce), and I'm very happy. I can know how many visitors come, in which page, and from what (google, links), and for search engines keywords used, and so on.

The best thing is that it's free...
The only function missing is per-user page clicks tracking... But watching IPs and pages you can simply follow it.

I neded a modul for visitors and tried many but now i´m proud to say I like astatPRO. Why?
There is an easy way to install and it works very fine. After a while you will have statistic for everything you need.

I've tried it in our site and I found it working great! Sorry, just want to be honest, I tried joomlastats before but I uninstalled it. It even required modifications in the template. But this one? No need! Once installed..it will work great! I never expected to even log the visitors IP (of course with 232.xxx.xxx to maintain privacy issues) as well as the OS being used! You see? Why try it today?

astatsPRO gives you most statistics you would get from cPanel's Awstats and similar and presents the data in a decent way. User agent, OS, Referrer, uniques, page impressions etc. It also tells you the top items from the above.

No insert of code into the template is required, just install the module and publish it somewhere, it can be configured to be invisible. With defining on which pages to use the module you can even exclude a part of you site. Very nice job.

But to the shortcomings: At the stats, it doesn't display your pages' SEF links, only the index.php?option= etc version. So you have a hard time finding out which page they're talking about.

JavaScript support and resolution only works if you hack the components config file. When doing I saw that this file doesn't use the "if valid_MOS isn't defined die" thing and it can't access the Joomla environment vars like mosConfig_absolute_path.

The country locator isn't exact, it only seems to check the language info from the user agent string. So if someone uses an US/EN version of a browser (most people not having a localized version for their language might do so) astats sees him as vistor from America. Many people get the Australian version too, so don't wonder if lots of your visitors are from America or Australia like I wondered.

Those rather minor issues set aside, this extension is really recommendable and makes checking traffic stats a pretty pleasant thing (as long as you like the data).

Just started trying out the component. Alas, it didn't work right out of the box for me (joomla 1.0.11), but with a few hacks I got it up and running. Since the English comments seem to be auto translated I'm glad to speak German ;-)

While testing with an Opera browser I found some coding errors in ./components/com_astatspro/astatspro.php: you need to globally change $opera_version into $operaVersion (or do something like "$opera_version = doubleval($operaVersion[1])").

Are there no Firefox users here? The cookie system works with IE, that is: repeated hits by the same visitor are not counted as new visits, and the settings are accessible from the back end after logging in. It does not seem to work with Firefox(2.0), that is: each hit by the same visitor is counted as a new visit, and the settings remain inaccessible even after logging in. So don't trust your visitors count: each page view by the same Firefox user will increase your visitor count.

I installed this component in August on my site, and I am satisfied with it, but there are problems as well.
First of all, it does not slow the site significantly - the other comment system slowed it down tremendously. The data more than is enough for basic statistics, and it is easy to configure.
But there are problems as well. The Hungarian translation is horrible, some expressions are translated into Hungarian ones I have never heard or read before. That is why I do not publish some statistics to the front page. My other problem is that sometimes it calculates wrong, e.g. it says 172 is the total number of search results in a month, but in the same month in the same time 173 hits from Google is calculated.
If you want a basic statistics component only for private use, it will do the work, but if you want to make the statistics public, be careful.

Very comprehensive extension with lots of backend options. Great and quick email support from the developer.

Note 1: In addition to the component, there are two modules - one for collecting information and one for showing it. The collecting information module must be installed on all pages for which you want visitors/hits information collected, though it can be invisible. The module used for showing limited information about your visitors and hits is handy but optional.

Note 2: The hacks shown below have already been implemented in the current version.

A basket full of statistics available at my fingertips; easy to use, intuitive structure; and I have discovered that it's waaaaay too easy to spend lots of time looking at my site's stats. Definitely addicting.
I had some trouble figuring out the proper install procedure, however, a quick response by the developer had me on the right path in short order. One needs to extract the components from the downloaded zip file first onto one's computer; and then upload and install the zipped component from that file into Joomla. Way cool, I give it 5 stars!

After using BSQ Stats for several months, I decided to try astatsPRO and I'm very glad I did. I will be switching all my sites to this component ASAP. It's both intuitive to use and thorough in the data it collects. Also, and this is important, it doesn't routinely phone home the author of the software like BSQ does.

An installation tip: in addition to the component, you *must* also install the module as directed in the instructions. In the module control panel, you can specify "Hide" if you don't want visitors to know your stats.

the first days it worked perfectly and suddenly i noticed it didnt show any member/visitors online.
mailing the author didnt help either as i never received a reply.
