Report

OK in theory this is a fantastic component with great potential TRUE!!

But why go to all the effort of creating something and then suddenly dropping off the radar and leaving it in limbo with unusable features?

The real problem with most (98%) of extensions for joomla is that they are unfinished..the author had a great idea but for what ever reason chose not to finish it.

Lets take this one for example; great extension but it lacks one feature that has been removed the ability to be able to upload images!

This is a great component without doubt but BEWARE!

There are several issues that you will need to fix. There are answers to most of these on the forum but most of these are in italian, german, spanish so get ready for some ify google translations.
Secondly the forum appears to have died over the last few months and all questions fall on deaf ears.
If you are good with code battle it out it is a good component once all issues are fixed. If you don't like delving into code bewarned months of headaches await you.

Pro's:
-This is by far the best component to add and advertise property or holiday units on the internet- if you are after free softwares. Before you spend any money on any other commercial component you have to consider this one.
-Quite nice graphics
-Nice logic
-Huge effort from the developers.
Cons:
However, you need some knowledge of coding to make it work perfectly.
-After months of forum posts, there is still no answer how to make the 'Add New Accommodation' work in the frontend.
-Add Contact: still not straight forward as it should be
-etc..

Don't take me wrong. This is a proper free software with good intentions behind it.

I will still be waiting for the above improvements.

keep up the good work!

Forza Italia!

I just needed a small component like this for some featured hotels. This piece of software does its work!
Well done guys... A very good component, specially due to its GNU free license. I have register to your site but still waiting approval.

a future suggestion easilly implementable is to have the option when u add a new accomodation to insert its geo coordinates, based on which the google map will find the location. The current implementation which sends, address, city e.t.c is quite inaquratte and do not forget that several touristic places does not belong to a city, so there are not addressed in google maps accuratelly. An option to put the coordinates would be really helpfull.

Beautiful and emphasizing!!! The best one on line! Very easy to install e personalize. No competitors!
This is a very good alternative to commercial components. It can also easily beat other components if more functionality will be implemented. Hope to see that site members can be automatically added to the contact lists so that a user can contact them directly.
This is a very good component. I use this Component.

I just can say that this tool is an easy to use component. I only use it for listing accomodations on a touristic portal site and just wondered that it is functioning great.

I am sure this can be only better for the future when the component gets maybe more features.

Go on with the good work!

Very important application for hotel management. Its functionality is better than other commercial extensions. Nevertheless, future development perspectives seems to be very interesting.

As a user of Hot Property who, like many, is awaiting further development of that component. I welcome this conversion and update of Accombo.

This component worked straight away. Some work is needed on the English phrasing that is used, but I image that it wouldn't be too difficult to get it just how you want it.

The component easily handles the basic requirement, to list and categorise accommodation in a travel portal - like mine.

There is a link in the accommodation display to an Italian weather site - a useful feature but it couldn't find my town - the 2nd largest city in Ireland. I guess I would remove it or see if I could use an English variant.

It has nice features that you won't get for the $119 you spend on Hot Property - namely a drop down box to choose hotel star rating that shows up graphically in the listing AND facilties graphics selected from a tick box. These show the little graphics to summarise accommodation that are recognisable worldwide - but not available in Hot Property.

The pricing and availablity request features are basic, but as I use other secure booking systems I would not want to have these features built in.

The layouts are attractive but basic and not within the control of admin - I think they use the CSS from the template - but this would be acceptable for many admins.

There is a searchbot that is functionally good, but needs to be translated to English - although it shouldn't be hard.

For me, where Hot Property scores above Alberghi is with its ability to add custom fields and to re-order those fields. PLUS, I extensively use the extra 'free' modules delivered with Hot Property throughout my site. They feature selected (or random) accommodation in module positions throughout the main content of my site and are an essential part of my sales effort. I suppose that it might be possible to create such effects with other modules and Alberghi - but I wouldn't know how.

What neither products offer, and is much requested by Hot Property users is the abilty to have more than 1 level of directory. For example:
Hotel Accommodation/England/London
OR
Cottage/England/Cornwall/St. Ives
(I use '/' to indicate a directory branch)

So in summary - a good free alternative, and if not for the 'free' modules that come with Hot Property I would propably save the money and use Alberghi.

I also believe this component of Marco has great future. Downloaded it yesterday, and today my fellow people have a full-fledged Alberghi translated into Bulgarian and available in two version - cp1251 and utf-8.

http://www.joomla-bg.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=55&topic=3270.msg14440#new

There is also an English version that corresponds to the changes introduced in the two BG versions:

- All (or almost all, including the contact emails sent) Italian words in the script have been replaced by language variables using the existing one and where needed introducing new language definitions (except for the italian.php - they have to be copied from the english.php and translated)

- Files modified
english.php
alberghi.xml
alberghi.php
toolbar.alberghi.html.php
helper.alberghi.php
email.frontend.alberghi.php

Yet I have some technical issues and would like to discuss them on the Joomla forum, please travel to

When I first loaded Alberghi, it looked OK but I quickly found the transition from Italian to Englsih hadn't worked as well as it could. Vamba has provided excellent support to change that and now I have a very good product running on a test site.

The inclusion of multiple images is an advantage over the leading product of this type although there are a couple of little cosmetic matters that could be improved.

I haven't been able to get Alerghi working with OpenSEF RC5 yet, which is a slight drawback as is the absence of its own CSS and reliance on template CSS but I expect that Vamba is working hard to remedy these small issues.

This product is already good and is going to get even better. The leaders in this market now have a major competitor!

That is what makes good devs, those that take up issues fast and address them, even if not as quick as some of us would like.

We also speak French, so if you need help on the french side, just ask.

One thing I've noted from all these sort of booking, reservations addons is they only seem to cater to that of hotels or band gig bookings, which is fine for some.

But none take into aspect the whole of the industry, meaning like that of beauty salon, spa, medical reservations and bookings with interactive feedback features or plugins for outlook management, this is a vast industry very over-looked and have yet found anything from either that of Joomla or others that fit this need.

The music industry, hotel ect are a small portion of the whole marketplace for versatile addons.

Example, private home nursing or other services that can use such reservation features and pre-bookings, hair salon, spa, esthics, alternative medicine, or others of this type...

Are you right, sorry
I made another version soon as possible, with menu and installation in english language called 2.0eng_stable
byicwebmaster on March 28, 2006
if your going to make a release and speak in English as noted from the annoucement, then make sure the dang thing installs in the English language, not all of us speak other languages, if the componet is only in one language, then make sure you state that for others to know...
