I had been looking for a component such as this for quite some time. I installed it about a month ago(took all but 30 seconds), but there was just one thing missing; support for one more carrier. I contacted Ed H. at Digitalaccess and VOILA!, within an hour I was emailed back with the updated component that has support for our carrier! You can't beat that.
Of all the sms components out there this has the brightest future by far!

I've installed this on my test 1.0.15 site and it works right out of the bag. It is a very simple tool to send SMS messages to ANYONE that submits a phone number.
Problem is, you cannot tell who submitted the phone number.
This extension needs to be user based. Registered users should be able to submit their cell phone numbers via their profile (CB or not) rather than through a simple module that does not gather user info.
Also, there needs to be some sort of front end access for users to remove their phone number from the program when they desire to no longer receive the messages.
It's a good little component, but I cannot use it as it is currently built on my live sites.
My wish would be that this component could be instead wrapped up in a CB tab plugin so users could sign-up through their profiles, remove their numbers through their profiles, etc.

"This extension needs to be user based" Because not everyone has free or unlimited text message service, putting this component into the hands of a 'user' could prove costly to a subscriber who would become an unsubscriber real fast after they received their cell bill. None of your features or suggestions are 'out-of-the-question' or impossible to code. Many of your suggestions are planned for the next release (and then some) while others are out of the basic model we established for this component. Over all your comments and suggestions are helpful as we finalize the upgrade features and will be taken into consideration. Thanks for your review and rating... both are always welcomed.

The jSMS extension was very straightforward to install and configure, and it worked from the very start. I did notice a minor formatting issue with the "Subscribe Successful" message. I posted this issue on the developer's website and received prompt and outstanding support from Ed H. with Digital Access USA. Even though it appeared the problem might be unique to my hosting service's (GoDaddy) server configuration, Ed H. stayed in continual contact with me until he was able to resolve my issue.
I am impressed with how well this extension works, and even more impressed with the level of support provided by Digital Access USA!

We've been needing this component for a while and this works great, plus the support is awesome. I needed to add a new gateway and was promptly sent the coding information. Highly recommended, and I can't wait to see the features on the next release :)
This is the coolest extension I have found in a long time. You can now send text messages from your site to subscribers. Tested, tried and true, folks. The system is great, and so easy to use. And it's free!!!! The tech support is awesome too.
Works great! Only options I may try to include is a way to unsubscribe, and subscribe to multiple departments.

Works without any issues on Joomla 1.5.6 Legacy enabled!

This component was exactly what I was looking for. A way to send sms messages via Joomla without using a third party. It installed no problems, but I couldn't get it to work. After numerous emails and forum posts with the developer, I was able to figure out the problem is my server, not the component. Basically, my server has some unique issues. I installed the component on another site I have with a different serve and I was sending sms messages within 3 minutes. The developer gave great support, very quick, and very thorough. You won't be disappointed using this component.
