This is my simple photo gallery component for Joomla. It has some limitations and such because it's simple, but it works great for me. You can do any modifications you wish, but if you do, I would like a copy if your willing to see where the idea is actually going. It might be neat to make a real, useable component out of this for people who just want a simple gallery of thumbnails and then larger photos. I have included some instructions in INSTALL.txt inside the zip file, since you will have to create some folders using FTP or any other access you may have. I designed this for use with Joomla's Media Manager Administrative backend. Fixed: Folders are now correctly sorted by name.

Colour me unimpressed by spidersilk, November 10, 2006
I get that it's supposed to be simple, but there's a point beyond which "simple" becomes so primitive as to be virtually unusable.

This component has no web-based administration at all - everything is done via FTP and if you want any sort of captions, you're apparently supposed to upload a whole lot of text files, but given that there's no documentation whatsoever, it's basically guesswork how you would format them or where you would put them.

Really, it's hard to see how this belongs as part of a CMS at all - it seems to almost defeat the point. I ended up uninstalling it and going with Easy Gallery instead, which worked out much better.

The sort of component I love by mrjohnpc, August 31, 2006
This component ticks all the boxes -
Simple
Well coded
Useful
Lightweight
For a simple, no fuss, image gallery this is a great choice.
I don't agree with a previous posters comments about lack of documentation. I managed to figure out how to use this without much difficulty, and when I had a problem (my mistake) the writer of the component, Zharvek, replied to my post on his forum promptly and the problem was fixed.
My site is still in development, when it's up I'll post a link for you to see how I used this component.

Should be included in the standart Joomla! Package by michavino, August 24, 2006
Its so easy, nice and clean. Just what I need to make a fast and simple Photo Gallery.

Good working, Zharvek by namnp, May 25, 2006
Thanks Zharvek. I'm searching for a simple, clear and lightweight gallery on internet, and I found your "Archaic Binary Gallery".

Today developers are putting many and many of functions into their huge galleries, it's too hard to find a simple gallery that fit my own need ;-)

Doesn't seem to play nice with SEF by chinathetimes, May 14, 2006
I checked and tripple checked the instructions.

The names of your photos and the galleries dictate the name that appears on the screen.

I used VIP Room at first for one of my selections and SEF forced me to rename it to VIP_Room ... which causes this to become the Gallery name ... and so on.

So, he's right.

If you want to stop using SEF and do a lot of manual copying and creation of files and directores plus call up his web site for instructions since he forgot to include it in the package then this is for you.
