ListMessenger For Joomla 1.5.x exceeds expectations as a Mass Mail/Newsletter Extension that extends Joomla to allow you to send mass emails (Like newsletters) when ever you want DIRECT from your Joomla site.
LM also works on shared hosts that impose limits on sending email, and provides you with a great tool for sending professional newsletters, simply yet very powerful!
ListMessenger For Joomla 1.5.x only works with Joomla 1.5.x on servers running PHP5.x
UPDATED: Now with added support for WINDOWS web servers :-)

I ran into trouble trying to install ListMessenger on a GoDaddy hosted site but with their excellent support, Phil was able to get me going right away.
Believe it or not, the feature that most attracted me to the product is that it DOES NOT INTEGRATE with Joomla users. I have several applications (clients) where the newsletter audience is much greater than registered users. This product's ability to allow the addition of names and email addresses without being entered into the Joomla users table(s) keeps the Joomla tables clean of "non-registered users." To segregate these audiences on the same Joomla website is very helpful.

Yes, ListMessenger is a great application and integrated into Joomla! it has a lot of potential. However, the title 'ListMessenger For Joomla 1.5.x' suggests that it's properly and completely integrated into Joomla!, which, in my opinion, is not the case (yet):
- ListMessenger is not aware of Joomla! users. According to Mr. Taylor, and I quote, 'this is by design'. In my opinion it's a requirement for an extension explicitly named '... For Joomla 1.5.x'.
- You can not add menu items to ListMessenger subscriptions forms. According to Mr. Taylor, and again I quote, 'thats silly'. This remark apparently is based on the fact that there are some examples of html code available, which one can copy and paste manually in order to achieve that kind of functionality. However, I think proper integration with the Joomla! menu system also is a requirement for an extension explicitly named '... For Joomla 1.5.x'.
Some other, minor issues, like having to modify the subscription confirmation notice directly in the language files instead of through the administrative back end, makes me reach the conclusion that 'ListMessenger For Joomla 1.5.x' is not a finished product yet. As such one might wonder if it's appropriate to charge money for it.
As far as the exceptional support is concerned, I'm a bit disappointed in Mr. Taylor's choice of words in his reply to my e-mail and the way he brushed aside my questions and remarks. One may expect a more than that for a commercial extension.

Indeed impressed by the script! The activation is very safe and takes some steps, ones you are there we really enjoyed the script. Also the reporting of the mailings is nicely graphical done.
Great customer service also, they made it work on windows servers for us.
A feature request in the next release would be a decend scheduler which can handle cornjobs etc. Would be a nice addition.

ListMessenger is totally totally AWESOME.
I am just so impressed with it. It’s great. Just imported 800+ names (the clean up facilities from Excel data import are just out of this world) and then painlessly sent a mailing to them all. That is just one detailed example of the careful attention to detail that has gone in to making this component really user-friendly. It's got so many features and there's quality everywhere you look. Support has been great too. Really good work and something special here! I've used other Newsletter components but I'm glad I've switched. This one rocks!
