Install quite easily a bridge for coppermine. Last versions tested: Joomla 1.0.15 or Joomla 1.5.3 and Coppermine 1.4.18 . You can visually integrate the gallery inside Joomla's template (but not necessary) ||

* Notice about demo: the "demo" link I provide is from a "genuine website" (i.e not here just for testing purpose).

* Latest fix: updated joomla15.inc.php file, issue with caching bypassed

It Works But... by Thumdar, April 27, 2008
Let's face it, this is a bridge, and as a bridge, it works as suggested, does it's job, fantastic. However...

I've been creating a Community Builder based website and need a powerful gallery like Coppermine that will be friendly with CB and all the modern functionality that a Joomla based website has to offer. After I installed this bridge and clicked the link to view Coppermine I was given an XML error. Doing some research I found that this bridge will not work with ajax and therefor my instant messaging (JIM) needed to be turned off. This is when I realized I can't use Coppermine.

Again, this bridge works great but us CB web designers are still without a powerful gallery.

I Love This Component. by da1superc2008, February 1, 2008
I've been using Joomla for almost two years now and have not wrote one review until now. For months I have been looking for a really powerful way to integrate a gallery on my website and I have tried many different extensions. Yesterday I discovered this bridge and installed it. It worked flawlessly and integrated with my website perfect. Long story short this is by far the best extension i've used and it made my year .. Thank you from The Bahamas LongIslandIsHere.com!!

Awesome! by digiblur, November 14, 2007
One of the easiest bridges to install. I couldn't believe it was so easy. Works great!

The only thing I have a problem with is users can not use the xp_publish.php method of upload files. I've looked up and down the internet and can't find a fix. It works with a regular Coppermine site but not after your bridge it.

Let me know if you get the publish feature working.

Better integration would be nice by Nillerz, November 3, 2007
It uses an iframe, it would be better if it made the gallery look like a component instead of just showing a window to the gallery.

User integration works okay though.

Owner's reply:
Sorry to contradict you,

but it doesn't use an iframe(with visual integration enabled).

Try to unwrap the gallery from the "iframe", if you really think there is one.

Otherwise, I agree it doesn't behaves like a regular component.

Too confusing by scrappy, October 7, 2007

Im not exactly a newb, nor am I experienced, but this was too confusing for me and couldnt get it to work...

I bridged G2 with much less hassall, but unfortunatley I dont like G2 as much as I like coppermine.

I guess I need to wait for a more thorough step by step or easier bridge component.

Its a shame, thanks anyhow.

Just what I was looking for! by jplc, September 15, 2007
After downloading, I simply followed the guide and after a few clicks (and file transfers), lo and behold, Coppermine was running nicely with Joomla!.

Admin and User integration worked perfectly.

Coppermine just got bumped up to a new version 1.4.13 last night (Sept. 14 '07) so I patched the the cpg files and simply ran the cpg upgrade (following the instructions on their website) from within Joomla!.

Everything worked like a charm after re-running the cpg Bridge Wizard.

A very well designed extension. Most of all, it's free!

Can't wait for any improvements.

A big thankyou by jamgol, September 15, 2007
I've been using this bridge since it was created. Our corporate intranet (Joomla based) now has a gallery with over 13 thousand media items including photo's, training video's and audio books. Coppermine is the only media gallery suitable for Intranet use and Joomla, Mehdi and Coppermine make an incredibly powerful combo.
Can't wait for Joomla 1.5 with Coppermine 1.5.x integrated !
Many thanks again,

Perfect!! Many Thanks!! by themenace, September 6, 2007
I am very impressed with your instructions as well as your Bridging Skills. Thank you for a perfect Extension.

If you are having trouble with the CSS, and easy fix, is just use a wrapper and modify your stylesheet to simply fit, width wise. It worked for me with Joomla 1.0.11 and Coppermine 1.4.12

Awesome Job and even better Instructions!!

Great Component by p3rf3ctg3ntl3m4n, August 27, 2007
This component work fine with joomla 1.0.13 and CPG 1.4.12

thanks for your hard work :)

best regards

Major Kudos by cheesegrits, August 13, 2007
Ignore all the reviews complaining about the setup. People who don't even know how to install a Joomla component have no business giving bad reviews to a product like this!

It took less than 10 minutes to get this bridge running, from starting the download to viewing the Gallery page in Joomla. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I run a fairly heavily customized Joomla 1.0.13, but the page looks fine, and the install went flawlessly.

The result is fantastic. Yes, I'll have to do some work on the CSS to tweak the style to match my site, but one of the standard Coppermine themes suites me well enough for now.

Major kudos to Mehdi.

Not So Easy by formadmirer, July 4, 2007

Been using Dragonfly for a couple years now and thought I'd give Joomla a try, but I need Coppermine. So I looked and found this bridge and was quite happy, as I've installed many php scripts and hacks over the years and this appeared to be just what I needed.

But, after nearly two hours I've still got nothing working.

In the instructions it says "First install com_coppermine.zip inside Joomla."

OK. But where inside Joomla? It's a pretty big script and having a directory name might be nice. I've popped it around from directory to directory but still I get the error "Cannot find 'com_coppermine' component. Seems you need to install it first."

For me the use of Joomla hinges upon being able to have the Coppermine photo gallery. I don't understand why such a highly regarded CMS doesn't include Coppermine (or some other equiv. gallery) , or even a forum. Both Coppermine and PHPBB come pre-bundled with Dragonfly. But DF doesn't have the additional modules like Joomla does.

Anyway, for now I'm back to DF. I rarely have the time to try new scripts and working with this bridge has shot my time for today. I've given up.

Owner's reply:
Please get familiar with Joomla, before even attempting to install this bridge.

I admit that instructions I provide are not "newbie friendly". I may rethink them in future.

Works perfectly! by mycale, May 20, 2007
Thanks for such a great tool!

Unlike the other Coppermine component, this bridge brings the complete Coppermine gallery into Joomla. Setup is easy. Thanks for the pre-hacked files!

You Just Have To Follow Directions by GloriaGrayson, April 14, 2007

After reading the review by soldstatic, October 31, 2006, I was scared off and tried Gallery2. But the thing is that personally, I've never liked Gallery2. However, I now able to expertly declare that if you follow the very detailed installation instructions for both Galleries you should have zero problems. The key is to FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Finally something that works... by kehelle, April 9, 2007

After struggling with other galleries with javascripts going bananas, code hacking, ajax loading heavy script libraries, and many other problems I went for the good and old coppermine and all functionality works like a charm just out of the box! Plain, feature rich and straight forward! Great work with the bridge!

Great bridge and it's free! by binhi65, January 26, 2007

I installed Mehdi's Coppermine Bridge on my web site the other day and it worked great! I followed the instructions and the installation was smooth and easy. Mehdi's bridge works, is as good as CoppermineVis and it's FREE!
