Almost, still missing some essential things to be a real (Link) Directory.
Possibilty to have more fields, for url's or other additional fields.
For the rest... It's a perfect extension and suitable for many things!
Thanks,
Ron

Index is based on sections and categories of Mambo/Joomla.
If your want unlimited subcategories use Nested Categories 1.0.1

There are no subcategories at all .... by sonet, June 13, 2006

I like this component very much, but unfortunately I have to refuse from using it. There are no subcategories at all, this sad moment is a main reason to avoid using it. I tried to use AlphaContent for directory links – but it looks very poor without subcategories and tree, the same story with songs, culinary recipes. All categories are shown on the same level…. I would really appreciate the developments if they could solve this problem. Component is really very promising.

We miss central europe (win-1250) character encoding in index table. It is still really great compoment. Consider english product site or forum in future, maybe?

Fantastic! by osarusan, June 6, 2006

Not only is this product great, the support is wonderful! I had some feature requests and bug reports, and I recieved a response within an hour, and there was a new version the next day which addressed all my concerns!
For usefulness alone, AlphaContent is already a wonderful component. The dedicated and personalized support by the developer makes it even better. If you need a free directory component, this is the one to use.

Finally a directory listing, with the possibility to adjust a lot of settings. Great work by the developer! The only incompleteness for me is that there isn't an active highlighting system for the alphabet menu. If there were highlighting, the component would perfectly fit in the navigation.

What can I say? Besides providing us with a spectacular script for free, Bernard was very helpful. I too experimented the 'less than one hour' help from him.

Excellent service! by Arneby, May 27, 2006

This guy is nothing short of excellent. Wrote him a mail about a really small annoyance when using AlphaContent with Mambo and swedish chars. One hour later I got an answer promising an update for tomorrow. Another few hours later version 2.1.6 arrived for download.

A second review - well he updated this compenent! by crash777, May 26, 2006

WOW, I emailed the developer and within HOURS he had updated this component. Not only had he fixed the bug I brought to him (about displaying items) he also added plugin support and full intro text viewing (graphics/tables/etc)!! NICE WORK.
There are a ton of settings to fit nearly every template - different columns to display the tree, different settings for intro text. All great settings, all settings make for a flexible display.

I recommend this by crash777, May 22, 2006

It seems quite nice if you have a lot of content on your site! Orders things quite well with lots of search options!
PROS: Easy to navigate, nice layout, lots of options
Cons: mambots do not work in the listings (when you have intro text on)
Nice job overall! good work!

Great Component by FinLy, May 19, 2006

Very Great Component !!!
Highly RECOMMENDED !!!
Have a question, how to duplicate your component? For example, I want to use one of your component to display section 1, and section 2. Then I want to duplicate your component and install it to display section 3 and 4...
Thank You

Just what I needed... by rconnelly, May 16, 2006

I was making a medication manual on my Joomla site, and I wanted to have an alphabetical listing by title (ie. by drug name) of all the content in a particular section. This component was the perfect solution to do that. It comes with a module that allows A - Z navigation to be added whereever you need it. You can specify which sections/categories that you want include in the listing.
I emailed the developer, Bernard with some questions. He responded quickly and immediately released another version (2.1.2) which incorporated my suggestions along with a lot more customizable features.
An excellent and easy to use component for making alphabetical indexes/lists of your content.

Unfortunately does not support UTF-8/Unicode and therefore does not work for sites in Swedish, Danish or Norwegian ie.
