Joomlaspan have released a new module to greet the user!
Users are everything for webmasters. It is good manners to greet them when they visit your site!
This module inserts a single line of configurable greeting on your designated page(s). Make sure you publish this at least on your homepage! SPREAD THE SMILE!
This "intelligent" module can detect the time of day on the users PC and greet them accordingly! What better than to see a "Good Morning" message on a webpage when you get up in the morning? ;) It changes to "Good Afternoon" or "Good Evening" when it is appropriate! These phrases are also configurable, and hence this is a multilingual module too...

this module is really cool! although it lacks some spark... its a great way to great your uses but you cant use it for multiple greetings :(

Just installed this onto one of my sites and now the front end has disappeared!

Can access the administration panel and can make changes but the front end is just blank, contacted Joomlaspan but they dont seem to be acknowledging my call for help.

:(

You can do a lot with this module. A couple of suggestions I have for the developer:

Adding the ability to link a greeting to a picture would be nice.

I had to edit the module's php to remove the punctuation. In other words, by default, the module displays "Good Morning." If you want it to display "Good Morning!" and don't edit out the . in the php file, you wind up with "Good Morning!." I think you're best off making the end user worry about correct punctuation and not adding it in your php code. As a user below said, it may be that you want to add a question based on the time of day, e.g. a restaurant "Have you tried our breakfast platter?" instead of "Good morning."

It's a fantastic start and a great idea for personalizing the user's interaction. Thanks for creating this module.

it is really good module. we can also use image HTML tag rather then using simple text as good morning, good afternoon etc.

i think it's better if we can add the more greeting. for example for early morning, late morning etc

This could be a super module, but because you cannot have the happy face with the text info; it becomes very dire and boring. This does not really spice up your website with life, but it is a great tool for users who are new to Joomla and want to show what the sites can offer!

It's interesting to modify the default text:
Good Morning -> Had your coffee yet?
Good Afternoon -> How's your lunch going?
Good Evening -> How was your day?

Welcome message: Default
Example output: "Had your coffee yet? Welcome to our site"
