A Currency Converter component for Joomla. This converter uses the csv file provided by yahoo. AJAX Technique was used in this component so that it will not reload the entire page.
Update 1_0_1: "Covert" typo 8/4/2007
Update 1_0_2: "conversion=0" 9/7/2007
This was not an error on its initial release. yahoo.com however
changed its download settings for the currency conversion so I
adjusted the code to cater the new settings.

I am experiencing the same problem, installs but nothing happens, no back end configuration, nothing. Something wrong somewhere, removed it immediately. I would recommend you look elsewhere until the install problem is repaired, when some documentation is provided and finally when the download site problems are resolved.

For some reason, after the smooth upload, i cannot access the component. Every time i try, i get back to the default admin control panel. Seems that when i click on "Component > Currency Converter" i get looped back to the admin starting point. No clue why that is or how to solve it. :(

Does what it says by jabbarman, September 6, 2007

Fine, simple component which does exactly what it says. Only three files which makes it very easy to adapt to your own site's look and feel.
(... However, because Yahoo have changed the location of the download site there was a slight problem at the time of this review in that a url is wrong in line 10 of .../components/com_currencyconverter/convert.php
It should read:
$host="download.finance.yahoo.com";

Installation is a breeze by ChaosKaizer, June 14, 2007

Installation is a breeze & work smooth out of the box, I test this com with Joomla 1.0.12.
regarding the submit button with "covert" value you will need to edit the joomla/component/com_currencyconverter/currencyconverter.php at the bottom most just edit the submit input button value and change it to

I hope the developer can create a mambot for this com.

Hi,
I have tried to install it under joomla 1.5 and cannot get it working!
Although it said "success" after installing, when I try to select the component through the menu (Components > Currency converter) I get this:
"Resource not found
Component Not Found"
(also tried to upload it manually onto the server, no change .... )
Would be nice if the author could fix the buggy ...

Very Useful Component by ausnets, March 22, 2007

A customer of mine requested a currency converter for her site . Luckily I created her site in Joomla and even more luckier that I found this neat little component in the Joomla Extensions. Yes, there is a typo with the submit button saying Covert (but maybe the author is a former CIA agent!), however this is easily fixed in the components main php page which was addressed by a previous post here.
If it wasn't for this great little component I would have to download a html module and place the code from other currency sites which might break the look and feel of my site template.
Good work mymotag, but fix the spelling of your submit button from Covert to Convert
:)
Cheers

Great Tool, but "Covert" Typo a Downfall by Sleepy_Sentry, September 30, 2006

This tool is very useful. It can quickly convert just about any currency out there into the currency of your choice.
The only problem is the convert button says "Covert", making this component useless if you want your site to look professional. Luckily, the type can easily be changed by going to your components/com_currencyconvertor folder and opening the currencyconverter.php. Search for "covert" and change it to the value of your choice. I personally chose "Convert".
Having this a module would be very useful too.

The "covert" typo aside, this component is simple, clean (no built-in ads of any kind) and effective.
An admin control panel where to set the default currency would be appreciated though.

That is what I was looking for!
There is a typo in the button description "Covert" instead of "Convert". ;)
