Very nice component! by Petter, February 26, 2007

Sometimes it is worth to drop a few bucks to get an app that just works.
Installation and integration went smoothly - which is more than can be said about the other options I tried.
Backend is clean, nice and very easy to use and understand, and frontend adapts nice to your layout.
A few small glitches (that I expect will be amended):
- I did not get the approve by e-mail links to work (does not matter for me as I do it through login anyway)
- Special norwegian characters appear nice on site, but not in e-mail notifications and in backend.
- "Title" is missing from one template (don't know if this is intended though).
Otherwise it works and looks nice - and support also seems fast and eager.

Well, the component is great. Easy installation, setup and nice easy to use interface.
What is even better is the support. The developer asked in his newsletter what could be improved. I didnt liked the layout of one of the templates. It was fixed with the latest update

Azrul and the Jom Comment team have put together the tightest extension going.
I’ve used the Standard version and recently upgraded to the Professional version … both of which installed and worked perfectly the first time out.
Best of all, I’ve already received a few compliments from website visitors, stating how simple the process of leaving comments was.
I also appreciate the fact that Azrul includes a “Security Image” function to reduce spam and the choice of various comment templates.
Since I started using Joomla in August 2006, I’ve used a lot of good Joomla extensions, and I have deleted a few that were functioning below standard levels.
If there was one improvement that I could wish for, it would be that Azrul would have the time to branch out and code some other awesome extensions.
But I do believe that more extension coders will take notice and follow Azrul’s lead by providing great products and paying closer attention to the details.

Product is amazing, Customer Service is spectacular! by tmarsha4, February 16, 2007

My brother and I were in dire need of a commenting system for the website we created for a Paintball Magazine. We were looking for a free commenting system, but our server did not support GD Library, which ended up causing problems for AkoComment and J!Reactions.
We looked around and finally stumbled upon Jom Comment. After seeing the smooth AJAX features that Jom Comment used. That was enough to convince us that it was well worth the $30.00. We were also able to import all prior comments that we had posted using AkoComment and J!Reactions.
After purchasing Jom Comment, I uploaded it to the server. It loaded and installed perfectly, but the commenting system would not submit. Each time we clicked the "Submit Comment" button, the page would not load the comment.
I contacted the customer service email and got an email back within 24 hours giving me tips and walkthroughs on what the problem could be. After trying everything, they asked if they could check it out in the backend. Three days later, I the commenting system was up and working. THE PROBLEM WAS WITH MY SERVER PERMISSIONS, NOT WITH JOM COMMENT. Azrul of Jom Comment completely reconfigured Jom Comment to support our server! Almost everytime I logged into the backend, there was Jom Comment logged in as well working to get Jom Comment working.
And, as you can see at www.pb2x.com, it works flawlessly. Jom Comment was well worth the $30.00, and the customer service was free. He must have spent at least 3-5 hours working to get it working on our website(FREE OF CHARGE!), and I am extremely greatful.
Excellent Product + Awesome Customer Service = Excellent! Review.

What can I say that others haven't! ;-)
Excellent component, speedy support, good admin features, and affordable! I suggest it to all my clients!
This should be a default Joomla! extension. I highly recommend this component!

Great Component by tonysh, February 11, 2007

It's a great component. I had phhBB forum on my site, but when I installed JomComment, it was conflicting with the forum. So I had to take the forum down. I asked JomComment's creators to try fixing it, so there's no conflict. They're a bit slow to respond, but they fixed it and both work great now.
The component itself is pretty lightweight and doesn't seem to slow the site down. It has great look & feel and your users will love it. It's very customizable and gives you a lot of options you can turn on/off. If you need a comments component for your site, go with JomComment.

It Mostly Works, So It's Mostly Good by ericiris921, February 5, 2007

I've been using Jom Comment for a few months now. My site is specifically for use by my family and friends, so it isn't a huge thing, and it is lightly used by comparison to most sites out there.
Out of the box, Joomla! did not have a comment system installed. So I looked around for comment systems, installed every one of the free ones, and discovered that none of them worked at the time. I found Jom Comment, and while I cringed at the $20 price tag (suspecting that it likewise would not work), I ponied up the due and installed it.
Well, it worked. I was happy. Folks could comment. The comments were linked with users without any special messing around on the back end. It looked nice. For what more could I have asked?
After a relatively short time, perhaps it was two weeks, the comment templates began to break down. In particular, the comment forms rendered poorly (the array of icons for the comment editor began to list in one very long vertical line, rather than the horizontal groupings that would prove functional). Also, the posts themselves would display in what seemed to be random configurations. At one point, the system began to randomly prevent comments from posting. Eventually, the system did not permit any comments to post.
Since I am a graphic designer by training, I am not particularly savvy as to possible code problems with the component. But, I figured that the issues were likely created by an incompatibility with another installed component. I tested the theory. I un-installed, and then re-installed the component. It worked. It looked good. I was again happy.
As time has passed, I have had to go through this process 2 or three times. The good thing is that the comments are not lost when I do this. The system works when the process is complete. So, while the process is a mild inconvenience, I've been generally satisfied with the system.
I have since been tempted to use JReactions on my site, but I've already paid the money for Jom Comment. Were it a high traffic site, I might be really upset by the little quirks. But, I am content to periodically revisit the installation.

I've installed and tested most of the current top Comment components and this is the one I'm going with.
The features are excellent, it functions well, the author's site forum & support are pretty good, and unlike some of the competition you're allowed to remove the acknowledgement from the front end - which is sensible given it's a commercial product.
There have been a few minor oddities that I've managed to get around without too much hastle. Overall, a great product and worth the cost.

I am lousy web designer/developer and I need all the help I can get. I have installed both MyBlog and JomComment on my site. They are THE most easy and intuitive components I've every installed. Just really good stuff.
My two cents aren't worth much, but I thought I needed to give some eProps to this development team.

Works like a charm! by Enigma9, January 31, 2007

We are enjoying your comment system. The installation was smooth, configuration was easy to set and we were able to comment right away. We also have notifications turned on, so we are alerted each time a new comment comes in.
Thanks!

Lacking by LJKelley, January 31, 2007

3 of 6 people find this review helpful:
Installs well, and seems to work well at first glance but does lack the following:
Content that is devided into pages because of its length does not show the comment area until the last page. If you click Add Comment on the frontpage it takes to the first page of the item and not the last thus confusing visitors and them believing they can't comment on the item.
Second, if user is not registered it does not urge them to register to remember their details ect, nor is there any option for this. Unregistered users should be urged to register unless they are just casual visitors to the site and comment infrequently.
Third, should blend into the site CSS when possible, especially headings where the is black on my site but when installed the word comments (0) was white and thus unreadable. Increased CSS usage (when that was the only thing wrong) does add precious time to loading the site considering people might still use 56k.

Perfectly matched my needs by Lukum, January 30, 2007

I like the idea that when I install a new extension, I don't need to spend hours at understanding how it works, if it works at all. I like extensions that work like a charm immediately after install - within minutes - this is what I experimented with Jom Comments. I don't mind paying a few boxes for that. I really like the comments templates available, since they provide an easy way to adjust the comment box to the current template css.
I'd like to have an option like a checkbox whereby I can decide to display a comment box or not at the end of each article. It seems that a tag should to the job with the mambot, but I couldn't find how to do it now (I haven't gone through the whole doc though).
Thanks for the job! :-)
