MyLinks
MyLinks will provide a way to visitors (Registered users) to store their favorites local links into a "basket" to allow them to easily go back to key parts of the site. You will need to install the Component (for back-end managment) and the Module (for front-end display).

Great Component when hack is installed. by frugalWebGuy, March 14, 2008

I absolutely agree that MyLinks deserves greater development.

The reason the managing links doesn't work is due to "Register_Globals" being off (a security necessity). The good news is a hack has been created that addresses this problem. The hack is very simple install and once in place the component works quite well.

You can find the hack here:

Seems to bee too good to be true by zenoni, August 18, 2007
The idea behind the module is excellent, but such a things falls always into the category "Too good to be turue" - I installed it, tested it, but I had to abandon it because the links management (deleting, moving, editing) are not working.

I sad to say that, because there are no similar competetive moduls available.

Just what I needed by sfosseen, June 27, 2007
I currently have about 700 content items on my site and growing. Each page is a resource teachers can use in there classes. MyLinks is going to allow me to let the teachers save/bookmark the content items they use from year to year!

I would like to see the ability to add Folders to help organize the link list, and have an option to do an alpha sort on the list.

I am looking forward to an update!

Very nice, a must have for big sites... by serkan75, January 30, 2007
I really need a component like this, simple but working. Currently my problem is with the editing of the links. I couldn't find a newer version to correct this and will try to fix it myself. Hope I can do it...

Suggestions by IMAG, October 19, 2006
Great job.
Suggestions:

1- Some users would add hundreds of links.
So, it's a good idea to let the admin (or maybe the users also) set a number of links to appear, and after that a "NEXT" link appears at the end of the column and the user can click to see the rest of his/her added articles.

2- Do you consider allowing member to choose a folder to save the link in? That would be really really handy.

Keep it up!

MyLinks and Development by djesus, September 11, 2006

Hi Folks,

I'm DJesus the developer of MyLinks, no the development did not stopped... But I'm acually very busy with personal life, so do not have alot of time to work on current development.

I'm aware of the SEF issue with MyLinks, and I have to review this, but this is not very easy... I will try to improve this point soon !

Thanks for your patient !

Good one... by jdude, August 29, 2006

This is a very useful tool for busy community/sales sites with lots of content.

Pity that you've stopped the development in March 05. For example, it does not work with Joomla! in SEF mode and has issues with saving certain searches by newer components. This component/module pack has lots of potential and I encourage you to continue with its development.

Keep up the good work.

you could use the delicio to do exactly what you are needing.

http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,502/Itemid,35/

Your users would need a delicio account and everytime they add a link from your or another site, it is displayed in their delicio favorites.

Very good but not what I was looking for by mailon, May 6, 2006

when I saw that component I thought it was what I wanted, and that is the opportunity to a registered user to store one of my sites weblinks, to a favorites directory and the ability to see it again anytime he wanted. I'd like a component like this cause I currently have around 500 links and my list just keeps getting bigger.

About this comp now. Works perfectly, some may find it more useful than I did. Keep up the good work folks, and if you have anything the way I described it let me know! :-)
