Install quite easily a bridge for Phpbb. Tested with Joomla 1.0.15 and Phpbb 2.0.23. You can visually integrate the forum inside Joomla's template (but not necessary) ||

* Notice about Joomla 1.0.13 and later: Despites the new "salted passwords" introduced by Joomla 1.0.13 , the bridge works fine. However, if you plan to unbridge, it won't be as easy as before. Users added to phpbb after bridging (and only these ones) , will end up with "salted paswords" stored in phpbb's "user table"...

* Last change: little PM notification box bug fixed.

* Notice about demo: the "demo" link I provide is from a "genuine website" (i.e not here just for testing purpose).

Good but it can be much much better! by burek, November 19, 2006

First when I installed this bridge I was so happy. But shortly after all I was experiencing were bugs, bugs and even more bugs. I don't want to spoil somebody's work, cause I know it takes a lot of time to write such things, but I'm just giving my honest opinion.

After dealing with this component (bridge) for a while, I've quit using it and switched to a native Joomla board which works perfect by now.

could not make it work with CB by tnichol, November 8, 2006

This is a really good idea, and I'm sure works fine for some folks (maybe folks without CB?), however I could not make it work with a clean install of all most recent (stable) builds of Joomla 1.0.11 and CB 1.0.1, PhpBB (2.0.21)(this is the build they tested/support). Spent time on their forum and went through documentation. They have some "hacks" for CB listed on another part of their forum, but the instructions seem non-deterministic and even after asking questions and posting on their board could not get installation to work. No disrespect intended to the authors/team - just don't think this was intended to work with CB and thats a requirement for me.

I'm a big fan of phpBB. This was the best solution I could find and I'm very happy so far. Many thanks!

Great! by rainymom, October 5, 2006

This bridge has worked very well with my website. When I upgraded a component that caused the bridge to no longer function, Mehdi was very quick to respond and gave me an excellent fix.

Excellent Bridge by david63, August 2, 2006

I had a heavily modded phpBB forum that I wanted to include into my new Joola site. The instructions were easy to follow and I was up and running in no time at all.

Adding new mods is no problem once you understand how the system works.

Good Bridge by hotsauce, June 21, 2006

This bridge works very well. The instructions on his site are fairly clear and if you want to run a non-modded forum it is really easy (just drag and drop for the most part). I had a heavily-modded forum (running outside of joomla) and it still works, you just have to follow his directions for editing the files/template. I also had a problem with admin access to joomla, but I just created a new admin (via myphpadmin) and reset the superadmin. Overall it works great, just wish it came with other modules such as latest posts.

Very nice... by JaceRider, May 18, 2006

I've been playing around with this for the past couple hours and so far it is working very well. I have heavily modded my forum and this bridge still manages to work.

Excellent job!
