Thyme
Thyme is a robust web-based calendar which provides a Joomla integration. It supports event reminders, daily and weekly calendar subscriptions, iCalendar support (import/export from/to iCal and Outlook), RSS support, multiple calendars, multiple categories, advanced event repeating rules, file and url attachments, event requests, multi-language support, and much more! Joomla Studio, our Joomla integration, provides a template based interface where you may design an event list or calendar view that matches your site exactly. You may also wrap Thyme using Joomla's wrapper. Combined with our Joomla Authentication module, this provides a complete multi-user, multi-calendar solution for Joomla.

Amazing!!! by thebigempty, May 8, 2008
If you need an online calendar, you cannot go past this!!! I've tried Jevents and iCal, and both didn't cut it... where on had features, the other didn't...

At first Thyme is a little worrying... but once you get your head around the way everything works you can integrate it into your joomla installation beautifully!!!

Not only is the component itself top notch, the help is always quick and responsive...

This is the CALENDAR TO HAVE!!!

Well worth the 50 dollars..

Great product and support by noisypenguin, February 7, 2008
I am in the process of putting together my first Joomla 1.5 site. After trying a number of different "free" event calendar that would supposedly work with 1.5 and having problems with uploading, installing etc decided to try Thyme. WOW!
Not only was the installation straight forward with plenty of documentation, when it came to customising there are plenty of options. And - best of all - when I got stuck and posted a question on the forum I received answers back within a couple of minutes.
A brilliant product that works well with 1.5 and excellent support. Thank you

Didn't work for me by deespence, December 18, 2007

I have never left a review before, but now I realize how important they are. I have also never had a problem with a compenent until now.

The installation seemed to work flawlessly, however, after looking in my components, it simply wasn't there. I logged out of the administrator console and logged back in. There still was no Thyme component. I also checked the modules and plug-ins. I use Joomla 1.0.13. Because of time limitations, I really don't have time to go the support route, so I can only move on and search for a good calendar compenent.

In general good but... by smhaller, November 15, 2007
I was searching a long time for a calendar which includes the ability to upload/sync with certain entries from a calendar application like outlook. Thyme does this well and with a little bit knowledge of the english language everybody is able to install it and also integrate it to Joomla. Fine!
But as I wanted to upload new calendar dates this week I got just a blank white page. Also when I specified the direct URL to the index file of Thyme. Unfortunatly this is not the first time I already had this *funny* situation in the past and the only solution was to completly remove it and install again.

Owner's reply:
Please contact support next time this happens and we will be glad to help you with this. You should not have to reinstall Thyme.

Up a year now and loving it. by vegaskid, November 7, 2007
The most impressive thing about this product is the support. Ian is on the ball in the forums.

The product itself integrates well with joomla using the wrapper. I installed this product on a "intranet" type site and we are using the calendars so employees can view vacations, bdays, training and be reminded via email. Took about 20 mins to train a admin person how to update the cals and thats been the last of my involvement.

great product

Great by kalhak, August 20, 2007
Comparing to any other Joomla-calendar component, this is in its own league. I hope that update 2.0 will come out some day.

Awesome extension by totalweb, July 22, 2007
I have used several calendar systems with Joomla and this one is the best. The support is second to none. It did take a little effort to understand the system but once I knew the ins/outs, I just love it. You won't be disappointed.

Simply the Best! by fade2clear, July 12, 2007
Ive have been working with this product for about 6 months now customizing and implemeting on a mass level. Thyme seamlessly feeds into 20+ websites all from one installation! Awesome support, I feel like i know the developer personally. For a full demo of what this calendar can really do go to vcchouston.com . Also make sure to cjeck out all the subdomains to see the extended calendars

Simply awesome by J. R. Miller, April 11, 2007
The best tool I have for my church's website.

Great software and support by cbrehm, March 15, 2007
As others have noted, it is not the easiest add-on for the newbie to install--but I can say, as a Joomla cherry, it is not THAT hard and is well worth a little extra effort. The difficulty for the newbie is that it is not a standard Joomla component, module, or mambot; and requires a separate and unique installation process. But it is well designed and not buggy at all. Plus there is ample information on the process and a very responsive forum.

You got to love companies that offer a fully functional trial version before you buy.

It really embodies the best of commercial Joomla add-ons. It is extremely well designed and thought-out, actively supported, the support is top-notch, and the thing actually works as advertised. And it is almost comically cheap when you realize how functional it is.

The best Joomla add-on I've installed so far, bar none.

Best of Class by mactheweb, December 21, 2006
Looking through the reviews, I see that most of them are excellent and there was one person for whom Thyme was overwhelming. That seems about right. This is far and away the most capable of the calendar components available and a great stand alone app without Joomla. At $50 it is a terrific bargain too. That's just a fraction of the cost of anything comparable, as a stand alone program. Nothing comparable integrates with Joomla.

And it is a bit complicated to set up. But then so is Joomla if you want to truly get the most out of it. It is incredibly difficult to write software that is both powerful and easy to use. I think that Thyme does a pretty good job of being usable and a great job of being configurable and feature rich.

Documentation is very good. Online support from both the Thyme forums and the developer are excellent. The program is reasonable to customize and has great email and RSS integration as well as iCalendar export and import. It beats the socks off any Open Source calendar project I've seen in ease of use. It looks pretty nice, too.

Joomla integration with Joomla isn't complete. Thyme's own administration is more capable than that found in the Joomla Admin. That's a very minor annoyance. The public face of Thyme looks just like the rest of the site. I'd like Thyme written as a pure Joomla component/module. But that would be another product. As it is, Thyme is perfectly usable in Joomla. I'll live with the inconvenience. Thyme's strengths far out weigh its minor awkwardness.

Maybe the Ruby on Rails hot shots will do something slicker some day. For now, this is hands-down the top of the class and a bargain, too. If you want something drop dead simple to install and configure, go elsewhere. For a reasonably experienced developer, Thyme is terrific.

Another Must Have by paganini, November 19, 2006
I used a calendar module before which was exploited by hackers so I was very cautious when looking at another calendar feature.

However, Thyme as settled my nerves. Although I founf it a little perplexing intergrating it with Joomla, once you get your head around it, it is all good.

The support offered is fantastic and the flexibilty it offers and how you can have multiple calendars on the site with specific calendars to a page is brilliant.

It is worth the money and my client is highly impressed with it.

Great, but... by Jayson, November 7, 2006

Thyme is a very well rounded calendar package; however it is its own program and not a Joomla! Extension. There is a bridge to make it play nice with Joomla!, but the effort needed to put this together is too much I'm guessing for the normal Joomla! lover. I personally love Joomla! for its ease of use, but adding this isn't Joomla! style easy.

Over all I found the calendar to be very high end if you don't need it for your Joomla! install.

Just great by alvaroduran, November 7, 2006

Great piece of software, it has all I needed on a multi-user calendar. Some details could be improved, but overall is a great product. I tried several php calendar solutions and this is the only one it fit my needs. Amazing support via forum and excellent pricing. Rating: 9.5/10.

Top Product, Top Service by meedja, September 30, 2006

Thyme is an excellent product and, despite being a standalone offering, integrates extremely well with Joomla.

It is a bit different to set up and could be regarded as complex because of it's power. However a few hours with the instructions and on extrosoft's forums will get you up and running. And what power! As well as a great calander system, this allow you create multiple custom Joomla modules based on the calander. With complete customisability and flexibility, it will be some time before you push it to its limits.

And the best thing about Thyme? It's Extrosoft support! Not only are questions answered promply and efficiently, Ian will bend over backwards to help. That combined with the seemingly contsant updates & improvements (seamlessly integrated via the installer functions)make this a winner for this very happy customer.
