An easy to use component for managing a reciprocal link directory. Visitors to your site can submit their link, but only after adding a link to your site first (automatic check). Allows categorization of links. Full administration to maintain links and categories. Free and now released under the GNU/GPL license. * Better Admin area with filtering for large indexes, also makes it easier to find expired links
* Added debugging feature that will make it easier to figure out why a reciprocal link will not validate

* Made it possible to change the sort order of links to ASC/DESC DATE/ALPHABETICAL
* Added shown number of links in category selector in admin

This is the perfect system to manage link exchange.

There are many ungrateful ppl here. The developer's giving his work for free! what else can you give in return than not to complain about the link back to his site?!.

Even for versed people in PHP it is difficult to figure it out. The forum is in other language, rather than English. Someone post a fix in the code lacking instructions - Do I have to analyze the code entirely - This component needs work.

There are hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people who have managed to get this component to work without any issues. Those who DID have issues used the forum (which IS in English) and all got help for free usually within minutes or hours of asking. I am sad that you did not try these channels before giving a poor review.

Feel free to submit your issues in the PURE ENGLISH forum and I will get you up and running along the many other happy LinX users.

With some added work by the developer(s), this component could become "A Must Have" for any Joomla install, but it’s not there yet!

Just to name a few problems:
The back-end needs work; too often do you setup parameters, hit save and it doesn’t save your configuration, when you set “no description”, it still puts one on the form page, there needs to be a simple way to enter links from the back-end.

The front-end submit form errors out verified working url’s (“clickable”) and verified reciprocal links. This should be the operation this component shows its best, but doesn’t.

Than there is the reciprocal link the developer has hard coded to his/her own website that you can’t get rid of! It not like the developer doesn’t already have the component well branded on both the front and backend; this is simply insipid and uncouth.

Due to the above problems we had more frustrated users than we care to have, leaving us with no choice but to uninstall this nice little component. We look forward in testing this component once it hit a more matured level.

I wish you would have used the forum for the support issues. I deal with all issues personally and usually resolve them (check the forum).

If you had submitted these issues in the forum we could have solved them I am sure.

In regards to me adding my own link then I think this is only fair considering the amount of time I spend on developing this for free.

I have created a link in the link directory for my own site (and I will happily exchange links with you from my PR5 web site). If you are so ungrateful for me developing this for free you CAN unpublish this link. This will however add a "Developed by Costa Tropical Internet" link on all pages generated by the component.

I have recently installed this component on my site http://globalgamings.com
And I found out that they was a problem in the validation of the link as my site isn't installed in the root directory. Its installed in the main directory.
any the fix code is

$linx_activation_link = $this_site."//index.php?option=com_linx&task=c_e&c=".$email_confirmation_code."&Itemid=".$Itemid;

So because of one little bug (that you could have reported in the forum where you will see that ALL posts gets answered by me personally) you decide to give this component one star and mess up my rating.

The bug isn't even important as you can log in and approve the link via the Admin.

Here I am developing this software for free - for the greater good of the community. You don't even have to register to download - and this is the thanks I get.

You are the kind of person that makes me want to stop developing LinX.

Glad to see this is being developed further. Lots of work has clearly been done since the previous version and it is much improved.

Thanks for that.

People always want more don't they? ... My suggested improvement/wish is to allow the remote site to choose one of several link texts or link graphics, so that the remote site can choose text or graphic that fits their page, for the link back to your site AND for the landing page on your site to be different for each text or graphic too.

Seams like a nice little link exchange component and i agree that it has pontentials.
Unfortunately it showed up like scrambled eggs in my 247portal-b-blue template. The text was all center formatted
and i couldnt find anywhere in the css or the files to left
adjust the text so i couldnt use it. I checked on sites with a live version and everything looked nicely lined up.
Was thinking maybe my template is to wide but not sure.
Might be a bug...otherwise the functionality is great.

Please use the support forum if you are having issues with LinX. No one else has notified me of this issue, so it might be template specific.

I installed LinX and it works out of the box.

Features that would be nice to have in LinX.
1- One nice feature that all directory structure needs is missing so far in LinX: Alphabetical sorting.
LinX just list your entries as you put them and there's no way to rearrange them from let's say A to Z.
I hope a fix, update or trick can come out soon for the alphabetical sorting that's missing.

2- It doesn't support images. So, you're out of luck if you were to be listing companies with their logos.

This is the best links component I've come across, tried a few but this beats them all. It's simple and has great advantage of checking for reciprical link before submission.

There's also a new update out now so it works fine with J1.0.11/Register Global Off.
