Promo Link Package (component and module) is developed to sustain Internet marketing campaigns and promotional activities by encouraging users to refer the site to other people.

Promo Link Package (component and module) is originally developed to support advertising campaign of a well known Seattle Kozak's restaurant. Just for filling out the form and referring a friend, the restaurant offered a free sandwich of choice. In addition one will receive 10% of their referred friend’s total restaurant bill. The referred friend will receive a free appetizer of choice, just for clicking on the link.

Promo Link Module

Promo Link Module displays the promo and a link to the form which contains several fields like name and email address of the referred person and the person referring. Upon submission, data are stored in a database and two emails are sent: to the component administrator and to the person referred. When person referred clicks on the link in email, next two emails with coupons are sent: to the person referred and to the person referring.

Promo Link Component

Each part of the process can be configured using Promo Link Component Administration. Emails can be edited from backend as well.

Promo Link Component manager can monitor activity, print coupons, check coupons used and create Excel sheets containing data for the selected time period using the frontend.

Promo Link Component is SEF enabled.

Promo Link Component is using PAT Templates.

Would be a great component if only I could have got it to work. When attempting to save the configuration, an error is produced, as seen below. There is no real support forum that I have found. I'll be keeping my eye on this component, though, since it appears to be very simple and very functional in the marketing side of Joomla. Thanks for the efforts to the developer.

Good Concept but doesn't work by 72dpi, July 15, 2006

Version 1.0.1 Is a great concept. I was pretty happy to see such a wonderful idea in a Joomla component. Unfortunately, as the last person wrote, it doesn't work.

If you are thinking of installing this version, don't waste your time.

I really look forward to the developer moving this one forward as it has so much potential, and i can see a lot of people using it.

can't get this to work by jholstein, July 1, 2006

Very cool idea. Now if I could only get it to work. I've tried installing it on joomla 1.08 and 1.10 and both have differnt problems, but I can't get either of the installs to work.

Unfortunately no documentation and nothing on any fourms either.

It would defintely get some use in the Joomla community if a stable, working version was available.
