If you're still messing around with XTD ratings, you've missed the boat. jreviews is a very fine piece of script.

I can't thank Alejandro enough. I am a PHP retard, but within 24 hours I had reviews fully configured on my site. Considering how individual a review system is, that's an utter miracle. The customer support one might receive is far above and beyond anything expected, especially considering the pittance once pays for this component. As for the current lack of full documentation... if you can't figure your way around this software without a manual, you probably can't configure your email either. It can be as complex or as simple as you want. Its a well supported product, with the developer being very hands on with any issues (sorting one of my issues out personally).

We’ve used and installed Jreview on our site and really it did all what we required in terms of functionalities, and for the few extra features we needed customized, Alejandro managed to find the time to write custom code for us and the amount he charged was fair. It was a pleasure to work with such a great programmer. I would highly recommend using this script.

We bought jReviews when it first came out and despite the functionality, we was a bit sceptic because the component still had a lot of work to be done before we found it useable.

We just took the latest version into actual live use and I must say, that the component has evolved into THE best review platform for joomla.

I've seen other alternatives, but jReviews have taken a gigantic leap in terms of functionality and layout.

What I like most about jReviews is that it's actually very straight forward and intuitive for the end users in front end, even though the back end can do almost every trick you want!

Before christmas, we had a problem getting our server to accept the way the copy protection of jReviews works. Alejandro, the programmer, has been extremely helpful solving this and I must say that the overall level and quality of support exceeds the price of the component alone.

Our users don't as much need to WRITE reviews, but they really like to READ them. Therefor it's crucial for us that a lot of reviews (customer satisfaction) are written.

We took contact to Alejandro and asked for a solution on how users could "order" a review and thereby telling other users, that might be able to write a review on the given shop, that they would like to know of their experiences with the given shop.

After a short chat, Alejandro came up with several solutions on the matter because the component can already do this "reviews wanted" section 90% and I'm sure that we will see it 100% implemented in future releases.

My main point now is: if you need a reviews section for your Joomla site, there's no reason why you would spend your time trying other solutions than jReviews.

Highyl recommend this commercial product. If you need reviews on your site, this is THE ONE to get. I was unfamiliar with the joomla and adding third party components and modules. I downloaded the trial version and needed some help quickly for an important meeting to get a go ahead on the purchase. Well quick help is exactly what i got from Alejandro in Sales.

The list of features that come with this component is staggering. If you are considering any kind of reviews feature on your site - whether thats user submitted or just posted by selected editors or anywhere in between - then this really is the best option by far for Joomla. Not only is the list of features extensive but the whole thing is terribly easy to configure and customize. And if for any reason you have any issues the support - and this is the clincher - is unbelievably amazing! The Author of Jreviews is uber help full - instructing you on ways to achieve your desired operation, and re-coding bits of the component just for you. All this literally minutes after you post a query.

This extension is really impressive. I am newbie in Joomla, that's why I might be exaggerating but this tool looks to be very powerful, yet very easy to use and flexible. At first all those field groups, fields, directories, criteria look to be very confusing and cumbersome but once you establish them, they are very helpful. I have been trying JReviews about a week now and it became the heart of my site. I downloaded it for the features outlined in the descriptions. But I found more than that.

I needed very bad a News component which would allows users contributions in frontend. We want to be a colloborative alternative collective media platform. We don't want any moderator/admin interception approval etc. We don't want regular registered users to bother about page setup/layout details etc. We want everyone to contribute. So even a grandpa should easily enter his news. For this purpose I searched an extension desperately. I turned to the first option which comes to mind automatically: Joomla Magazin. Although it is another great tool for its own sake, it doesn't allow front end entries. Then as a last resort I wondered if I can use JReviews. Now I see, I can. Just create another directory/category and enter news as a "book review"

Some items which require improvement

* Limited Category/Dircetory structure: I know it Joomla limitation (How could they missed such a central issue). It's not possible to create subcategories. For every related topic I have to create a section

* Limited Item List Layouts. Currently it allows only 3 predefined page layout: Table view,blog view,Thumb view. It would have been ideal if we had a few more. I guess I should learn some CSS editing

* Might be A Bug: It's not possible to publish an entire directory on frontpage. If you choose more than one item to be on front page in Content Moderation, it opens a white page and displays only one item. But in Joomla admin you can display other extensions items on frontpage. This a very important requirement for news publishing. Now I have to insert an extra menu item to display JReviews "News" page, Wouldn't it be great if could display a link list of "Hot News", "Most Reviewed items" etc in small windows on frontpage? May be in next version.

I am going to buy JReviews with a piece of mind now.

By the way, tech support is also great. I had sent an e-mail on christmas day at around 8pm or so. I was expecting a reply at least a few days later. They got back to me after only a few hours and solved my problem

Really great script, very customizable and in case something doesnt work for you or you need any advice on customising the script to fit your needs, you will get the best possible support right away from Alejandro.

This component works well and can be customized with ease. I would recommend to anyone wanting to set up a review based system.

This is most likely the most powerful component I have found. If you are planning on providing any sort of review for your site I can not recommend this component enough!

The documentation is being worked on, there are questions left unanswered, but the support provided in the forums is superior compared to many of the now defunct or semi-defunct components that are out there.

This component provides major customization via and a robust back end configuration. There is a learning curve of 4 out of 5. Get your coding hat on if you want to perfect the look and feel that this semi-turnkey solution provides.

Brand new to Joomla - first install this morning (although I'm familiar with the CMS concept from dabbling with phpNuke a bit previously).

3-4 hours later, I've got a great looking review site, fully functional.

Only one problem found - if you are adding custom fields, you must add a custom field group first, otherwise you get XML errors. I've raised this with the developer, hoping he can put a message in to say that you must create the group first.

I am new to Joomla and web publishing. I have found jreviews to be a great add on for my web site. Whenever there has been something that I did not understand about jreviews I send out an email and I always get a reply back fast. Support is great for this extension.
