Multithumb
NEW VERSION 2.0

Now with even more popup types, watermarks, image resize, manual thumbnails, language packs and much, much more!

Multithumb is more versatile than ever. In fact, it is probably one of the most versatile and advanced mambots ever written.

So what is Multithumb?

Multithumb is a multi-purpose image plugin for Joomla that can automatically create thumbnails and popups of the original images, as well as resize the full-size images or add a watermark to them. It can even scramble the images names so that people cannot guess their original non-watermark locations.

For articles shown in blog mode, it can create a link from the first image to the full article for better user navigation.

It can also create a simple photo gallery from any folder by just including one of the images from the folder.

The following popup types are supported:

- Normal popup
- Lightbox
- Slimbox
- Thickbox
- Greybox
- Thumbnail expansion

Multithumb works with both normal images and images.

Very good, only one problem (and solved) by elcharly, May 16, 2007
This is a great add-on, easy to use, and good looking.
The problem, as mbrando said, is the close buuton not showing.
Note that this only happens IF your joomla site is NOT in the root, ex: "www.mysite.com/joomla". He proposed a fix, but in IE you can see a missing button anyways.

I solved it editing
/mambots/content/multithumb/lightbox/js/lightbox.js
in lines 62-63 you have to add "/joomla" or your subfolder name before /mambots/content... etc.
You will also have a nice loading image now :D

Hope this helps someone.
Charly

Absolutely Terrific by tmarsha4, May 11, 2007
I'm not going to lie, it took me a DAY to get the lightbox effect to work. I realized the problem was not even with my template! It worked after I unpublished Joomla! Works Ajax header Rotator. I am now using Joomla! Works Simple Image Rotator and it works fine.

If you are having a problem with the lightbox effect not working, try unpublishing some of your modules that use ajax or some other form of javascript.

Thanks a bunch!

Excellent plugin! very useful and (at least for me) bug-free. Just would like to have a "Only on this sections" feature, besides "Only on this categories". Thank you very much!

Better way to fix absent close button and loading image by RG007145, March 4, 2007

Very cool addon. It pretty much worked out of the box sort of speak. I'm using version 1.1 and had only one issue. The lightbox close button was not showing up. I had to manually edit:
/mambots/content/multithumb/lightbox/css/lightbox.css

------------------

If there was no close button, chances are there is no loading image also. The REAL problem lies in the javascript. Edit your /mambots/content/multithumb/lightbox/js/lightbox.js file like this:-

look for the term: var fileLoadingImage = "mambots/content/multithumb/lightbox/images/loading.gif"
and make it:-
var fileLoadingImage = "/mambots/content/multithumb/lightbox/images/loading.gif"

and to the same to the fileBottomNavCloseImage variable.

Editing the CSS is not the fix, it just "hides" the problem.

Excellent plugin, except that gallery doesn't work. Might be a sub-folder problem like the above, though.

Very cool add-on by mbrando, February 16, 2007

Hi,

Very cool addon. It pretty much worked out of the box sort of speak. I'm using version 1.1 and had only one issue. The lightbox close button was not showing up. I had to manually edit:
/mambots/content/multithumb/lightbox/css/lightbox.css

This is the of code I modified on line #70.

#imageData #bottomNavClose{ height: 40px; width: 66px; float: right; padding-bottom: 0.7em; background: url(../images/closelabel.gif) no-repeat;}

I added:
height: 40px;
background: url(../images/closelabel.gif) no-repeat;

to the style.

Now it shows the close button.

Maybe straight forward maybe not! by lolyton, January 24, 2007

Am i missing something?....

I installed the Mambot, and straightaway it worked as far as it resizes my images to a suitable thumbnail size. Which is very handy and much liked!

But as far as having the image overlaid on my web page after a click i just can't fathom how i am to do that, is there a link with instructions on? I followed the FAQ's and as far as i can see it's set up as should be. So doesn't seem to be fully functioning out of the box and can't work out the rest!

The smartest, simplest and most intuivite by alentsch, January 21, 2007

This solution is better than all others I tried so far:
- simple and very sleek look
- works for single images and gallery alike
- it works intuitively and seamlessly with the images already existing in articles
- several options and tweaks for the appearance of the thumbnail galleries and pop-ups/gallery expansion
- installation is done in 2 minutes without any problems

ONE OF THE TOOLS I AM MOST HAPPY WITH!!

Awsome Plugin by sergeyromanov, January 21, 2007
I had some problems with graybox in IE but generally it is very nice plugin. Right what I was looking for.

WOW - fantastic! by jackbremer, December 2, 2006
This is simply astounding - the automatic captions below images, and CSS styling you can therefore do is out of this world! So easy to configure, this plugin works like a dream, automatically!

The only thing I would like to see, is it working in the editor - I use JCE for creating and editing content, and this plugin means you put the image in the article, full size, which means horrible layout while editing. Once published, on the live site it shows as a thumbnail at teh size you choose which is perfect :)

Thank you. Thank you. Rock on :)

So Very Nice by junkyfungus, November 12, 2006
I love it. This is simply great!

If you're a newbie like me don't get frustrated when you can't open the blasted mambot for editing. There is a bug that is easily fixed by going to this thread: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,89866.msg455550.html#msg455550

Took me a good head smashing into desk episode to figure that part out, but it was so very worth it.

The Gallery I have been looking for! by Klementz, November 7, 2006
I have been searching for a simple gallery component for quite some time, with no success until now. This is it! All I have wanted was an easy way to display thumbnails that can be expanded to full view and MultiThumb does the job in spades. Excellent results and easy to use. Thanks!

Great functionality! Only couple of suggestions by alejo, October 18, 2006
This is truly a great mambot. Easy to use and flexible given that you can use the global settings or even set different thumb settings through the use of image alt and title attributes.

The only recommendations I have is to include the thumb size as an individual thumb setting, instead of using the global sizes for all thumbs. Perhpaps it could be incorporated like this: mt_lightbox-300-200:

Also, even though you can assign/exclude categories where you want to use the bot, the javascript libraries still load for all content which could create conflict with other extensions.

Again, overall this is a great applications. Keep up the great work.

WOW!!!! by FidelGonzales, October 13, 2006
I've been using Joomla / Mambo for over a year now and am quite experienced but had forgotten about the mosimage function and actually had to do a search to figure out how to use it again. Once I figured it out, I installed MultiThumb, AllVideos Plugin and Tabs In Content Items and have an extremely powerful solution that should certainly be integrated into Joomla 1.5. I wish I wouldn't have overlooked these mambots; it would have made for easier image integration and a much more appealing site. Excellent work on MultiThumb!!!
