Excellent 'must have' component. lack of Joomla 1.5 version todate locks me on Joomla 1.0

Very good for planning group activities for NPOs or other event-heavy organizations.
Integration with CB is good.
Wish for more control on how to display attendees of an event.Currently appears to show to anyone, including public users, with no control over display only to registered users, etc.
1.5 Version would be exciting to see, not sure if there is such work in progress.

Excellent extension, integrates well with JEvents and CB, extensions that are terrific in their own right.
Attend Events does exactly what the description says, and I am yet to have any issues with it after using it for a month or so.

Excellent Component, easy to install, easy to manage.
The only bad thing is that I just had to downgrade my project to joomla 1.0.X :(
hope to see a 1.5 compatible version.

just loaded attend events and it was so easy. does what it says and is easy for front end users. Would like a field type of date but otherwise I'm happy with an excellent product.

Hello!
Excellent component, works perfect and no problems with the installation and configuration.
I just have a question. My site have CB and jEvents, and the integration was perfect, but I've configured CB to work with "username", not with "name" (real name). I don't see the option in Attend Events to work with the same "username". It's possible to replace the "name" showed in the registered people for the "username"? I don't want to show the real "name" of the users in any place of the site, just the "username".
Thanks for the component and thank you in advance for the answers!

I've just upgraded to .9 build 26 and find the quality to be just fine for a production website. I carefully read the outstanding problems and none of them effected my organization because we don't accept payment on-line.
The cost management is greatly improved over .84. You can set up different costs for seniors, adults, kids. The confirmation email can include the total balance due. All in all, the new version is a big improvement over what was already the best free reservation system that I've come across.

Overall this is a fairly decent component. It installs nicely works nicely with community builder and jevents. My only issue is that I run a social site where anyone can post to my calendar and I dont like that they can't schedule a session from the front end. Hopefully this will be an addition to coming versions of this component. Other then that the component works like advertised and that in itself is a wonderful thing. Keep up the good work

Hi thanks for this component...it sure made my life easier. Features are quite good except some problems with the 0.8.4 version.
1)I can't add many custom fields at the configuration area, it will caused script unable to finish loading when I create a new event at the session area. But adding custom fields for each events works fine for the add new session area.....I wonder why.
2)I wished there is a feature where admin will receive an e-mail when someone registered for an event.
3)The date and time is rather confusing, when I have an event that stretches from day 1 to day 10...It became confusing to reader if I only indicate start date and also confusing when I indicate start to end date but hours are not right...
I am looking forward for the new version to become stable and hope all these issues are solved too :)
Thanks!

By now you no doubt can see that this component is highly rated. For people wanting support for repeated events within AE here is what i did.
I downloaded a plugin for excel that builds and produces sql statement files. I could create the table in excel using the nifty date features of excel and export it to the database. Ten minute job to create the booking shell for 1 year.
jos_events_sessions is the only table i updated and it worked fine for me.

Hi,
I run a School Holiday Program called Kraftworks for Kids. I use Joomla for our website and I use Attend Events with JEvents for handling Bookings into our program.
Firstly let me say that AE isn't designed for the use we put it to. I use it because it is a reasonable fit and it isn't expensive like the commercial reservation systems for Joomla which would be a better fit but are designed for hotels.
AE and JE installed without any problems and they are both configured easily through the Joomla Admin screens.
There are a number of features I like about AE:
It has lots of flexibility in how it handles Booking confirmations -- the page displays and emails are very good and easy to customise.
Venues are easily created and I particularly like the way Google Maps are implemented. This is really handy for first-timers.
It is very easy to set up the registration form and to customise it. We need to know things like the child's name, age, and so on. All of that is no problem with AE.
I have a couple of issues with AE. Firstly, every time you add a new Session or update an existing Session in AE it terminates the Admin session, so you have to log in again and it drops you back to the Admin Home page. This makes making updates a little frustrating. Secondly, if you Copy a Session there is no option to automatically create a new JEvent when you change the Session Date/Time. Finally, there is something wrong with the way Attend Events handles the difference between the Server Date/Time and the Local Date/Time. With Joomla configured to Australian EST (GMT + 10) the Session Date details were displayed incorrectly (showing the following day) while the Time was displayed correctly. By changing the Joomla time back to US Eastern (GMT - 5) the dates and times were stored correctly.
These issues however are not critical. They simply reduced my rating from Excellent to Good.
For a feature request I would love to see:
Resource contention handled. So if I have an All Day session and a Morning session if someone books in for All Day it also takes a slot away from the Morning session, and vice versa.
The option to allow changes to the default email configurations to overwrite existing sessions email configuration.
Regards,
Ian P.

Overall I really like the simple and effective way of managing the event management. I would like just one revision to alow an option to select either Register (Accept) or Cancel (Decline) attendance to the Event BEFORE a attendee has responded to ACCEPT.
We frequently assume attendance and ASK for the attendee to confirm.
I plan to write Peter direct to see if this simple php change can be made. a programmer I am not.
Thanks again!
GREAT PROGRAM!!

A current postal strike in the UK necessitated bringing forward online registrations for a Championship Dog Show. Two hours, from finding Attend Events to implementation, gave a very satisfactory system - thank you! We used version 0.8.4 for stability but note that a new version is in Beta. Notes: having set up the fourteen fields in Options they did attach themselves to this event (session) but have now disappeared from the options> fields which are now empty. Dog Shows have a lot of rules, regulations and options that have to be shown and a declaration that has to be agreed - it would have been good if either the page break or tabs would have worked in the event description to make it more organized. We look forward to the new version and particularly payment integration. We use JcalPro and it would be good if Attend Events supported this but as a standalone it certainly did the job for us - thank you.

I needed a tool that makes possible for my registered users to attend events (AE calls them sessions). This extension does the job.
However it would be even better with some additional feature. My most wanted is:
-Front-end access for registered users to submit their own sessions.
Thanks for the developer team for that great component!

The kind of support you get from the developer puts many 'commercial' developers to shame. This component does what it says on the tin!

This component was exactly what I was looking for because it integrates with Community Builder so well. It works for me, but needs some small editions.
Even though you can make default fields in the Configuration, I couldn't get them to work within the sessions
The frontend output needs to be a little more customizable
If you use the firstname/lastname fields from community builder, you cannot remove the default Full Name input from a registration, so you have to put in your name twice.. that's rather strange I thought.
But overall, this is a very solid component, I would def. recommmend it.

First off I like the component and I am currently using it. But I think it needs to have the option to copy "sessions" in the backend so I do not have to keep recreating the same session. Also it would be nice if the sessions could have multiple times throughout the day instead of just one time frame. In the manual it states the component that it integrates with is "Events" it is really "JEvents." Other than that not a bad component

I am surprised by the some of the negative comments. This is after all a open license product and the developer is doing the work without any payment. I found this product to be excellent in terms of doing what the features said it would do. Some of the features I was looking for, including a much tighter integration with Jevents, has been accomplished in the 0.9 version that I am using. Installation was very simple and the extensive documentation is great. I had a minor error along with some customization that I wanted to do. I posted the same on their forum, and recieved a very prompt response. I was able to fix the error and customize my template based on the proposed solution very easily.
I would recommend other folks posting here that have errors etc to really use the forums. Between the developer and other users, you can generally find your solutions quickly.
Wish some of the commercial products offered here would have the excellent support and feedback as I got from this developer. All in all, a excellent product. Will wotk great on its own, but with Jevents, really takes the entire event management to a very professional level. My end users have been very happy.

An excellent extension allowing a straight forward and easy to implement event registration tool.
I prefer it without JEvents, and am grateful it works standalone, as I prefer gigCalendar. Perhaps there could be integration with this or other calendar systems in future?
To answer two points put earlier, by jackbremer and DanielDPU, I've had the 2 requirements they mention and resolved them as follows:
1. UK Google Maps
To do this edit attend_events.php, search for google and change maps.google.com with maps.google.co.uk
2. Open Google Maps in new page
To do this edit attend_events.php search for google. At the end of this line of code insert TARGET='_blank' just before >maps
Thanks to Peter for a great component.
