EventList
EventList is just that what the name would lead you to expect. It's not a calendar but an easy way to manage and present your Events for your group, company or community. EventList offers a lot features and possibilities which makes your work easier, like the Venue database, Picture resizing and much more. But also for your site visitors EventList has some additional features to offer, like a simple registration system, map service links, or the submission of new events and venues from the frontend as well as frontend editing. Additional modules are available.

Liking things so far! by AllyMcS, January 10, 2007
EventList is nothing short of excellent with the flexibility and options we need to get the job done.

Like with a few others that have mentioned it, the only requests are the options to have events that span over a number of days and can be recurring (like every monday / 7 days, monthly etc).

Great work guys! Certainly recommend this one.

TOP !!! by KurtSteiner, December 23, 2006
easy to install and handle.
Great is the integration to Community Builder, so that Members can register to an event.

Everything seems to be perfect, except one thing:
It is not possible to have events longer than one day.

But as i read at the developers forum this should come in the next version... (can`t wait for this)

Sunny regards

Kurt Steiner

Great Module by roadrage, December 16, 2006
I've used this module on several sites. My only wish (request) would be to make the venue an optional category or at least change the dependency on it. It's a bit cumbersome and doesn't always apply.

However, that being said, I will continue to use this because it has a great feature set and works well.

the best event component by scubaguy, December 12, 2006
EventList is perfect for my needs and the Venues features is what makes it stand out. Easy to use. The only thing missing is editing from the frontend.

Nice Component but...... by vizitor, December 12, 2006
I've chosen to use this component simply because a couple of the other Events components I tried didn't work (had serious bugs) or didn't suit. However one thing Eventlist lacks, which makes it almost useless for large lists, is an easy way to sort the Venues in the dropdown box. It's fine if you have only a few venues but when dozens or hundreds of venues are entered by frontend users it's very difficult to see if a Venue is already on the list beacuse they do not appear in alphabetical order, with the latest entry showing at down the bottom of the list. The positioning method on the backend doesn't help either as moving each venue to its sorted position once it's been entered is so time consuming.
This would be close to perfect if Venues were automatically sorted into alphabetical order once entered.

There also seems to be a problem with the holding of archived events although this could be something I've set incorrectly but it appears that once an event has been archived it only remains there (in the archive) for 1 day or so then it disappears completely.

It would also be nice if some of the fields like ZIP, COUNTRY and TIME were not compulsory entry fields as info for these is not always required in some applications.

I hope the author continues with the development of this otherwise great component.

Bulls eye! by Thulemanden, December 1, 2006
Very useful.

Covers the basic needs fitting 80% of the users while keeping simplicity which is important.

Missing facilities like duration time can be entered in the description.

For events with no 'Venue' (location), raise a Venue 'N/A' and select this.

Keep the military time as it fits European users as well as Asiatic and African users.

This is an Alpha? wow... by Jayson, November 7, 2006
Wow! This is in Alpha status but works better than most Betas I've played with. I'm not using this calendar the way it was written for I'm sure, but the thing is so configurable that you can use it for anything. I really like this and can't wait to see what else they do to it.

It should be noted that they creators state in the directions that you shouldn’t use this in production, but it is stable enough in my opinion. Now that isn’t to say there are not potential hack problems or something. I am simply saying it works, and I’m running it production. (my users love it!)

Pretty Nice by Champak, October 29, 2006
I haven't really put it through all of its paces, and I don't know if this is the right place, but I think the only fault to this is the Venue part.

I understand that some event venues will be reoccurring, but a lot of events will take place in totally new and one time only places, so to have to set up a specific venue place that is going to be saved, and I guess stored, within its own area is pointless, cumbersome, annoying, time and space consuming. And yes, I understand you can go and delete the venue afterwards, but again...pointless, cumbersome, etc. etc. etc..

I think it is a nice feature, but you should definitely be allowed to include the location right into the event, rather than being REQUIRED to attach it to a venue you create somewhere else.

So basically have an radio that says something like, "included location", when you select that button within the new event, it then gives you the option to type the location/venue to that event right there if it is going to be a one time shot. And if you select "stored location" radio, then you choose from the venue section that you've made. I think that makes things easier and better logistically.

Also, the military time thing is a real drag. Nickinglis, could you show how you changed that?

Other than that, great great app.

Terrific by nickinglis, October 25, 2006

Great right out of the package. I taught a 65+ year old woman how to add events into this component. It's that easy. I changed some of the variables in the module so that it wouldn't be in military time.

Rock on! by trraacy, October 3, 2006
I've only been playing with this calendar for two minutes and it's a beautiful thing!!!

Seamless to install, configure, and make available to my users.

Sweeeeeet!

The previous reviewer was asking about being able to edit an event, and you can. Just select the event and then, well - 'edit' of all things (smile).

Love the integration ability with CommunityBuilder and Google maps - so far - loving it.

Switched to this after beating myself to a pulp trying to get EventCal configured and working correctly. The forums here don't have much info on EventCal and I *hate* trying to squeeze anything useful out of Source Forge's forums....

So, I'm delighted to switch!

Only "waah" I have so far, would like a more graphical calendar like presentation.

Also loving that users can 'register' for events.

Thanks...

Aaargh! So nearly perfect! by wilson765, September 30, 2006
This is a great component. Easy to install, great to work with and for what I need the perfect layout.
But it lacks one feature that I need.
I am setting up a Christian joomla site that needs a list of talks, and venues. Eventlist does this fine.
Unfortunately the talk titles often need changing nearer the event. As far as I can see eventlist allows you to add new events from the frontend but not delete or change events from the frontend.
What a shame! A great addition to joomla but not one I can use. (Believe our members would not cope with the joomla backend.)
Anyway, if you don't need this feature then try it out.

Great Start - needs a few more features before beta release by evilrobot, September 4, 2006

This extension is off to a great start. Many seem to be complaining about the Venue (location) system, but it is the exact reason why I chose this extension as I have multiple events occuring over and over at the same locations. I hope that the author continues to update this, or that I can learn to make some changes myself:

A couple things I could use:
- Ability to have an event occur every X days during a week, month, or year - this way I'm not having to the same type of event (i.e. Ladies Night) each and every time it occurs. The time saved by not having to enter all of the venue info every time is lost by having to enter the event multiple times.
- Calendar/Mini-Calendar View

Other than that it is great!

Too unflexible by Amix73, September 1, 2006
Generally this event module is cool because its small and does not have all the fancy overhead the others habve - but it lacks flexibility which drives me mad!

I do understand the need for a catergory.
I do not understand the need for a venue - this stuff should really be optional - it only annoys me when I have to fill in this morover I have many many diferent events were I do not know the exact venue beforhand. Of course I could fill in a venue like "-" with a city like "-" but anyway when the evetn is displayed is looks really messy and I am pretty disaponited that I would have to again hack this module that it fits the basic needs.
Only the title, the date and the category of the event should be mandatory everything else is not necessary and should be optional!

The fact that you lose your event when you do not have defined venues and categories before is a severe drawback of usability! Solution: save it as a "forced upublished" event util category is set. I don't see the venue as a useful option.

The parts which are not filled out should not be displaed in the html presentation.

Since this module is in a too early stage of being useful I have to rate it quite poor.

Anyway - with more felxibility at the points I mentioned before I would like to use it and I think it has a great potentail o be a small and easy to use module.

Great idea - Great component by jes_uk, August 28, 2006
Easy to install & configure, I see what logicred means about having to leave the screen to enter the venue.

logicred would you like to share your hacks?

Nearly there.. by logicred, August 19, 2006
Out of ALL of the event components, this one seems to be the most suitable without the 'overkill' of the others.

However, there are still some fundemental things missing (such as event duration) and the 'latest events' module isnt that flexible (it doesnt even include a link to view all of the events). It is easy to rewrite parts of the module though to do all of this.

Its a shame that the component forces the user to select a location (which has to be entered first in another section which is painstaking and overkill - for me anyway). Again, an easy hack to get round which makes this a cracking component which is easy to administer for my clients (unlike some of the other event packages).
