CB Customize plugin
Missing link between CB and myspace!, March 29, 2007
5 of 6 people find this review helpful:

CB Customize plugin This is the missing link between CB and myspace-like websites. For a long time (and it is a very long time indeed, if you've been around the CB community), people have longed for the possibility of allowing users to customize their own profiles. This plugin answers that need. Though doubtlessly not perfect (yet), Michael certainly made alot of dreams come true with this.

I gave it 5 stars not because it's a flawless piece of software (and indeed no software is flawless), but because it does what it says it does, it plays a critical role in a community site, and one look at the source codes tells you a humongous amount of effort was put into it ;)

ADJR - Disable Joomla Registration
This bot is still required for CB 1.0.2, December 9, 2006

ADJR - Disable Joomla Registration This is in response to the previous review. Using the method mentioned in the review, the user will see the "You are not authorized to view this resource" message. However, with this mambot, it actually redirects you to the CB registration, which is less confusing to users who followed a link accidentally.

I give it a 5-star rating because i found this feature very important to any CB-enabled site, and this mambot does what it's supposed to do perfectly.

Joomla-SMF Forum Component (Simple Machines Forum)
Easy to install, use, and feature-packed!, November 14, 2006

Need to bridge Joomla, SMF *AND* Community Builder? This bridge is quite literally your *only* answer! With the full release of version 2.0 on its way, you can expect full integration between J!, SMF and CB. The developers are also fully committed to bring these 3 essential parts of all Joomla websites together seamlessly.

The bridge component itself allows for every single possible configuration: you can choose to allow your users to login or register using Joomla, the bridge (through an optional JSMF login module), SMF, CB, or CB-enhanced's login module and registration interface respectively, all with the ease of just selecting a radio button!

A CB plugin that comes with the package synchronizes user information with SMF like display avatar, real names, usernames, signature, custom title etc. Optional modules like the recent post module allows you to show the most recent posts anywhere on your Joomla site. A discussbot mambot allows your users to comment on your Joomla posts directly using your SMF forum. The bot even allows you to selectively choose which categories/articles to allow commenting!

I have used this bridge on all my Joomla-SMF projects, and all went without a hitch. Most importantly, new features are continually introduced, and old ones improved by the huge community using this bridge. The developers are also fully committed in improving the software. I suggest going to their homepage as it's the only way to really understand the workings of this extension.
