Joomla! M17n (Multilingualization)
A very good simple idea!, January 1, 2008

What I can say... it is a very good idea having your site with a full multi-language feature!

My first impression is that the code is well written and the readme file inside the zip package is well commented and above all has all you need for your installation.

The trick of this system is to map your site under the mainmenu links... and all is very fine. Obviously when you change your language you'll be re-directed to the home page and not in the same page where you are when selecting another tongue. But IMHO it isn't a problem. Moreover you can have a more free control about your site!

I explain better: when you have that Great system you don't need to have all your exact articles in EVERY language (sometimes not needed and useful...). You can have your (a little or more) different sites in different languages with their special caracteristics. Wonderful you aren't in a photo-copy site but in a free-minded site, if you like! If not obviously you can simply use the same "layout" for each language site part...

I've tested this system in an old RC3 and all is working, you have to do NOTHING. Only to choose what to view in your site by language options. About some problems seen please see what written by the first reviewer (flags image).

About what seen, I don't care about eventual problems, and the great idea behind (that mapping feature by language) I rate that as excellent! Moreover I considered my rate so positive as the developper pointed out that he'll continue his work for the 1.5 version...

PS. I've just tested it in a new RC4 environment but it doesn't work :( I'm very sorry and for that reason I have to down-rate to Good (I'm taking into account the good package but now not-working). Please consider that the system is the only solution in a 1.5 environment. I hope to see working it ASAP ;)

The best site map!, October 7, 2006

I'm very enthusiast about this Site Map. It's a very complete list of what you have in your site, with a "warning" for links for "members only", so what you see is what you have totally in your site. It is a very very good way of display the potential of your site without hiding any links to your anonymous users (obviously you cannot view a page linked for members only, but you - I repeat - can see that there are dedicated interesting links for members only - marketing!!!!!).

I have only a trouble... I sent to Graham (the marvellous developer) almost 1 year ago a quite good translation in italian language, but There is NO language than english. What a shame!!!! I wonder why... (I have too many DVDs and moreover I cannot find my italian file, aaaargh!!!)
