Google Checkout Payment Module
 Buggy, August 21, 2007

Google Checkout Payment Module Review based on version 1.1

The component is buggy; issues I had if users wasn’t logged in and clicked on Google checkout button, it generated an error, if Google checkout option was selected on VM ‘payment method’ page it generated an error.

It doesn’t support multiple tax rate.

It seems to work only with immediate transaction processing option

Pros:
Developer was kind enough to issue a refund.

Contact Form Bot
What I have been looking for., July 11, 2007

RSform! - Form Management Component (J1.5 also)
Easy of Use, June 20, 2007

RSform! - Form Management Component (J1.5 also) Looking for a way to collect athlete profile for my sport website, I started evaluating form components the first component in my list was ‘Form Management’ after installing and playing around for about 2 hours I stopped looking, I had found what I was looking for ‘Form Management’ is easy to use, feature rich and the most important support from developer, in a short time I was able to create input box, selection list, option box and image upload option, the only thing I didn’t get the change to test is SEF compatibility as I didn’t have any installed on my test site, highly recommend this component.

Joomnik Gallery
 Thank you, December 23, 2006

Joomnik Gallery This is one of the best galleries I have used for my need, profiling website, though a bit more complex to get it to work but it’s worth it, component has a sample gallery installer to make it easy and the developer is more than helpful and friendly. A gem in slew of gallery components.

Front Page Rotator
 Thank you, December 23, 2006

Front Page Rotator What I have been looking for, thank you. I have a biography website that wanted to randomly display biography of persons on frontpage this module enables me to do so.

Few suggestions:
Option to display only for a certain section / category
Option to display full article with intro and main text combined without read more…
Option to keep at least one static article always on frontpage e.g. Welcome to website article to be on frontpage always than the rest of articles to be generated randomly.

Easybook
No Support available, December 8, 2006

Easybook Though the component is feature rich, it is buggy, support is none existence, posts in joomla.org forum are ignored, emails to developers go unanswered. If you are looking for a guestbook supported by developer(s) look elsewhere.

eventCal
Need more work, July 13, 2006

Installation was OK but when tried to access eventCal got the following error due to missing english.php language file (english.php file is provided separately);

"Warning: main(/home/mysite.com/components/com_eventcal/language/english.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mysite.com/components/com_eventcal/eventcal.class.php on line 19

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/mysite.com/components/com_eventcal/language/english.php'
(include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/mysite.com/components/com_eventcal/eventcal.class.php on line 19"

After added (ftp-ed) the language file manually errors went away but on front-page I kept getting the following message.

"EventCal was called illegalyThe process was abortedIf this error occurs again please contact your administrator or
directly write an email to the developer of this component (Kay Messerschmidt) kay_messers@web.de"

Created event category (birthday), added events (birthdays) made sure both category and events are published but events won't show up when viewing calendar.

Cons:
(frontend) No way to select/jump to a particular date or year.
