FacileForms
Impossible to use, December 15, 2006

FacileForms The logic and thoughts behind this extension is close to impossible to understand or follow or even less; make use of.
Documentation is lacking; there's a few very specific fullblown examples, but almost no simple and general examples. (A registration form for a Rock and Roll dance contest??)

Even the simplest things are unnecessary complicated and backwards. Unless you have very specific requirements, or plan to use a whole lot of different forms, or really really need it to be integrated with Joomla - it will probably be much easier and quicker to get a beginners book on PHP and SQL, write something that works unrelated to Joomla (or do it in Flash+XML+XPath, or with static HTML forms), and then show it through a wrapper.

The learning curve is not steep - it's vertical with overhangs, and you need mountain climbing gear. The high rating is only because they have a very friendly user forum.

Really great piece of work!, December 14, 2006

I had a bit of trouble with the first version of this plugin, since it chopped the keywords containing swedish letters (å,ä,ö) in half, and couldn't find out how to set the proper language.

I sent a mail to the author, and less than 24 hours afterwards I got a new version of the plugin in the email - a version that could sense which languages the server could handle, and output a list of them.

Installed, ran it - and everything worked as promised! Great!

Productbook
Stay away from this..., December 3, 2006

Productbook This extension looks very nice, and was *exactly* what I've been looking for.
However, it doesn't work at all. The back end is fine, and the categories on the front end turns up and looks right. Then - nothing works. It refuse to link to any products, but stays on the first page no matter what.

Finally, after searching on the author's webpage, I found out that he was well aware that his extension had bugs, and have been for quite some time. Could have told it more clearly as it would have spared me many hours of frustration.
