VirtueMart
Good product, poor support, September 4, 2007

VirtueMart VirtueMart is clearly a feature-packed component and the only serious e-commerce game in town for Joomla website developers.

The problem is learning how to configure it to your particular needs. The documentation and online support is woefully inadequate. The forum badly needs a team of heroes to respond to the many unanswered questions (questions that ought to be answered in FAQs or docs).

To make matters worse, the virtuemart.net website has been agonizingly slow lately.

If you're looking for an example of third-party Joomla extensions that could benefit from going commercial, you need look no farther than VirtueMart.

Survey Force DELUXE - doing professional surveys
A superb component for surveys, August 24, 2007

Survey Force DELUXE - doing professional surveys I'm using SurveyForce Deluxe on a major corporate website, and I'm finding that it works extremely well. A huge plus is that it can be administered from the frontend, allowing my client to create surveys as needed without the complexity of going through the backend.

The component is VERY easy to learn and use, and it's reports are outstanding. One thing that takes a bit of getting used to is having to check the box next to a survey in my list of surveys and then click Edit in the toolbar in order to modify a survey's questions. Simply clicking on the survey name takes you to the survey description window, where no survey questions can be entered.

Support at eLearningForce has been excellent. They even made a useful improvement for my unique purposes, all for a modest charge.

I don't believe there's anything like SurveyForce Deluxe for Joomla. Highest recommendation.
