Acajoom News
 NOT for 1.5 Stable, March 29, 2008

Acajoom News This component is NOT designed for 1.5.x stable. It is based on at BEST 1.5RC2. The entry here of compatibility is misleading. If you read the forums, it is well documented that it is NOT for 1.5 stable. It should not be listed here as compatible.

As a result, there are continuing browser issues that have not been resolved.

"JoomlaCloner" - backup and restore
THE BEST money I have ever spent relating to Joomla!, March 14, 2008

"JoomlaCloner" - backup and restore I rarely ever do this. There have been so FEW components that I have used for Joomla that have ever warranted it, but...

From the day I first bought this component almost a year ago, it has worked almost flawlessly. There were initially a couple of stumbles, but those were user error and you guys took the time to explain the issue to me and things have worked perfectly, EVEN through an extended period of time on GoDaddy servers.

I make my living exclusively working with Joomla, and every site I create is a Joomla site with VERY few exceptions. Your component has made it possible for me to do my job and make that living. I want to thank you sincerely for your work on this component and for the value you have added to my business. The annual fee was a pittance compared to the amount of time and headaches you have saved me.

Header Image Module
 Half Baked, January 10, 2007

Header Image Module The parts that work work very well and constitute this modules only redeeming qualities. The link to section and link to category features, along with the proper coding for cross browser support of the slide show make this module worth having. That's the upside. The "SMART" feature doesn't work at all - this feature will definitely be worth having when it gets working. The link to a "component" feature doesn't work without SMART mode (as far as I can tell). The documentation is confusing and incomplete. The whole thing is very frustrating and while the author requests users make their queries on "Sourceforge", it doesn't appear that many people have actually resolved any of these issues. The "WIKI" that is so highly acclaimed is also confusing and lacks any clearcut instructions.

Again - what works works very well. If you can get by on ONLY linking to categories and sections, this module will definitely be worthwhile. Even in that instance, the documentation is incomplete.

 The worst, December 30, 2006

I have had nothing but trouble with this component from day one. When you get it to work, the output is nice and clean. The fact it's dependent on another component to be installed isn't great. The support forum is pretty useless. I would rather not have ratings at all than have to deal with this any more. I'm yanking it! Of, and SEF support is sketchy at best. Sure, it does them, but if you use anything but the built in SEF support of Joomla, it tanks.

JSCookMenu
 Great!, December 29, 2006

I have been trying to find a good, fairly easy menu system. After trying nearly all of those listed here, including some called "editors pick" (ahem), this is the first one that really delivered out of the box. The only thing I could add to it is the ability to use custom backgrounds (like allowing it in the CSS) and hover images. Aside from that, it's superb!
