Don't expect any help from the developer, October 1, 2007

I was excited because this is basically flickr4j, except it can pull in private pics. I downloaded and installed the demo. It doesn't work. The component shows it being successfully installed but when going back to click on the link under components, it just returns me to the main joomla menu. I thought that I must have done something wrong. I went to the developers forum. I found other users that were having the same problem. But, there was not a single reply from the developer. I posted, waited a few days, posted again, waited a week, posted again. Finally, I waited about a month, went back and apparently there were more users that were having the same problem still yet. But.. instead of helping us all, what did he do? He took the forum down altogether! There's not even a link now. I see that it's been replaced with more "your product is the best" reviews. It would be nice if the developer worked as hard at trying to help us as he does at marketing his product. I guess it's for the best it didn't work at the start though. I would have hated to pay for the product, had problems and never heard back!

I suspect that this product works great if your server is configured properly (since there are positive reviews from those that got it working). But, there are many of us that couldn't get the "out of the box" install to work (and I have 4 joomla sites and rarely have trouble installing anything). Just be sure to download the demo. If it works for you.. great. If not, you can forget emailing the developer. You'll never hear from him. Just go for flickr4j instead. You won't get the private flickr pics to display but all other functionality is the same, it's free.. and oh yeah.. it works!

JM Horizontal Current Date
Looks good but needs features, August 22, 2007
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

JM Horizontal Current Date I would probably give this about 3 1/2 stars. It looks nice, but the only options are to display a icon by the date or not. If you choose not to, it doesn't collapse that space, so it then looks dumb. So it's not really an option at all. Also, you can't format the date string output. It only shows one way - "Wednesday, 22 August 2007". As most would agree, that's not the best format for a date.
And finally, when the module displays Wednesday (the longest day of the week), it doesn't all fit, so it drops down a line and doesn't look good anymore.
Works well and other than this one day, it looks nice. Just needs some options!

Shape 5 Content Accordion
Wonderful Mod That Works Perfectly!, August 20, 2007

Shape 5 Content Accordion Could not be easier to use. And it looks absolutely perfect! Excellent work! I did have a quick question and posted on their forum. I had a very descriptive answer in about 10 minutes! Great support! Get this. You'll love it!

Flash MP3 Player - Popup Plugin
 Excellent MP3 Player!, August 16, 2007

I tried so many and didn't like what they had to offer. This one is easy to setup and very easy to add songs to. The interface looks great and doesn't have any annoying name branding on it. It's just a sleek looking, simple interface (the show playlist option makes it look even more impressive) that is very easy for a first time visitor to work.

Not sure why the above review says it doesn't work in IE6. I've tested in IE6, IE7 and Firefox. Works great in all 3.

Only option I would like to see added is a repeat 'yes' or 'no'. Currently, it is set to repeat the entire playlist with no option to turn that off. No big deal though...

Great work!! Thank you!!

mod_todo a small YellowNote module
 Quick & Easy - Works Great!, May 23, 2007

mod_todo a small YellowNote module Not much to it, but it does exactly what it says, installs as easy as can be and works great!

Flickr Badge Plugin
 Works great, April 9, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

Flickr Badge Plugin I would have given it 5 stars if the links it opens (pictures or URLs) could have been opened in a new window. Kind of a bummer that people have to leave your site when they click on a link. But.. the functionality works well and I'm a flickr freak! I'm going to figure out a way to incorporate FSViewr into Joomla next. It would look even sleeker.
Nice job overall!

Perrys Guest Book
It's close.. but needs some work!, March 22, 2007

Perrys Guest Book I like it for its simplicity, but there are definitely some probs. The 'time between posts' setting does not work. You simply can't post again. I think it's waiting for the default value of 86400 seconds (24 hours) to pass. I tried changing it to 60 seconds and to 0. It takes 60 but doesn't work. It changes 0 back to the default.
So then.. you try and sign again, and you get a message that 'You Already Voted'. Really? I didn't know I was voting. I thought I was signing a guestbook. I would like the option to not even use a specified time between signings. CAPTCHA would also be nice.

I also find it strange that there's an option to add your home address. Why? Who leaves their home address in a guestbook? This can be disabled though, so it's not a problem.

I'd also like the option to set the value of posts displayed on the page, through the configuration, instead of allowing the user to set it through the front end.

Fix these probs and you have a winner! I really like how basic it is and I think there area many of us that would prefer this for this very reason, if working properly.

One final addition request: Allow an option to let the email address not be displayed, but still associated to the name left, whereby another guest could click the entry and email that person, if desired. This should be an option of the author, to enter this email or not.

Very promising. I hope you consider fixing the current code and adding these enhancements!
Thanks!

 Won't convert U.S. Temp to Farenheit, March 8, 2007

Too bad. I would have given it a 5 if not for that. The mod looks great, but U.S. sites just don't look right with the Celsius degrees being displayed. There's supposedly a fix for resaving the files to UTF format on the author's forum. But it doesn't work. I tried it twice.

Also, the Weather.com footer is displayed in the module, regardless of whether or not I select the option for it to be displayed. Not a big deal though.

ChronoForms
 Perfect!, January 23, 2007
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

ChronoForms Wonderful tool to create your own forms. Just open FrontPage (for example), Insert -> Form, Choose your components. Put as many as you want on the page, switch to the HTML tab, copy it all and paste it in the text field this component provides for you. Name the form and tell it where you want the results sent.

Then.. the part that tripped me up, create a new menu item.
Choose type "Link - URL" then write the URL to be :
index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=YOUR_FORM_NAME_HERE

Voila. You've just linked to an entire form you created and the form works beautifully! I tried about every compononent to try and trip it up, but it rocked!

Fantastic work!

 Doesn't work., January 23, 2007

Too bad.. handy little addon that was just what I was looking for. The author has a test page, so with some environments, it works. With my Joomla! 1.0.12 Stable, it does not. It loads fine, but will not save the values in the blog links, so when I try to publish, it says to select an item to publish. If I link to it, you get "The page you are trying to access does not exist."

Could have been a great mod, but just doesn't function right.
