Coppermine Thumbnail Fader
As it claims, so it does!, May 25, 2008

Coppermine Thumbnail Fader This is a handy little module for getting Coppermine images into your sidebars, or even other module positions. I had no problems running it in 1.5 with legacy mode enabled. Could use an update to 1.5 native, and ability to control the size of the images appearing in the fader. Good for a quick solution in which few answers seem to be available!

MH2 Treasury 2.0
Almost Ready for Prime Time, May 24, 2008

MH2 Treasury 2.0 Nice idea--too many cumbersome intrusions. First getting Zend loaded on my shared server, then to discover that the component does not like my version of MySQL and refuses to create two critical tables. A solution is available, but is a nuisance and requires manually creating several involved tables---NOT for me!

The branding is too prominent--in both the component and the module. Maybe good for gamer sites, but not for nonprofits. The branding can be made to go away for $42--again, that makes this commercial ware and not what want. Still not ready for J1.5--be running it in legacy. Good idea, bad execution.

VirtueMart
 Tremendous Component!, January 19, 2008

VirtueMart This component is impressive--and gets the job done. As previous posters have noted, serious customization can be daunting. But for someone new to eCommerce or with middle range Joomla skills this will get you what you need to be up and running.

The site that this was deployed on took some time--osCommerce was evaluated and discarded, and $130 was spent on a buggy DigiStore and mambot which proved completely worthless for tangible goods selling. With time running out, this option was installed--and covers all the bases!

OOTB setup will take a little time--some items are not intuitive or things that most will not want are turned on by default like the rating feature. Version 1.1.13a corrects some of the complaints made earlier--but also makes certain 3rd party modules or mambots obsolete. But we all know that it is just a matter of time before that catches up.

Want great eCommerce that is well integrated with Joomla? This is it, and tremendous thanks to the developers.

AJAX Header Rotator for flash-like image rotation!
Quick add and clean!, February 20, 2007

AJAX Header Rotator for flash-like image rotation! In general this is a good product, and will quickly get rotating images almost anywhere in any module position. The only glitch I have encountered is that when placed into a position under several of the Rockettheme templates directly underneath the top menu, the dropdowns will be covered up by the rotator. Simple enough to fix.

 Great with a bug!, February 20, 2007

Overall, this is a really clean product that delivers a crisp module for page use, and when detail is clicked upon a great outlook and forecast. The main bug is that the Weather Channel Severe Weather Alert function can cause the detail forecast to disappear. This is easily fixed through the two part hack to the PHP file as found in the support forum. Otherwise, a great addition to any site!

Mosets Hot Property
 Serious Issues, February 20, 2007

Mosets Hot Property Why this product is an "Editors Pick" escapes me. Prior to shelling out USD $120 for this, I recommend that prospective users spend a little time reviewing the support forum: http://forum.mosets.com/. There is no developer support, no manual, and all issues are to be solved on a hit-or-miss basis by the user community. It does not play well with IE7, does not work with Joomla! 1.5, and is ridden with bugs and issues that require quite a bit of code editing experience to remedy (if at all). Nor does it appear that the developer is adressing or updating the product. Beware!
