Myspacon
Lot's of work to be done, and maybe in vain, August 10, 2008

Myspacon Well, it's a nice idea, but unfortunately not very reliable because it depends on the MySpace HTML layout and indexing, which can change anytime, but for now it's a usable basis. It's not actually usable "as is" (MySpace changed their HTML since). If anyone found a workaround for the "online status" bug that affects this code (if a friend goes oneline, an online status is added which messes up the HTML parsing), I'd be glad to hear from you! Though I think, but it's unfortunately beyond my scope, that this component should be rewritten from scratch, using the MySpace API's so the data could be accessed in a "regular" way, instead of ripping the links out of the MySpace HTML. That's why I give this component an "average" rating. I still would like to thank Domenico for the effort! It's very nice to have this interaction between the MySpace page and our website.

This a is basically a little script that installs PHPFreeChat on your server, and displays the container in an iFrame. PHPFreeChat is very good, but this component is still work in progress: the lack of admin panel and documentation is painful, and the iFrame workaround is not what I'd prefer. But it's named 0.2, so I consider it's a good start.

All the questions asked and limitations mentioned by prior posters are answered on the PhpFreeChat website: in fact it's highly configurable. Just consider you're running PhpFreeChat as-is, and use the commands and param's (if you figure out how to link administrative rights to your nickname)

One word on the iFrame workaround: this is a potential security issue IMO: one can pick up the URL from the HTML source, and open the chat from outside Joomla thus bypassing the login procedure. Meaning someone you banned from your site can still cause havoc in your chatrooms if he has an evil mind. Especially if your admin account is called "admin" ;)
