JCal Pro (event calendar for Joomla)
Best Calendar I've found for Joomla 1.5, October 8, 2008
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

JCal Pro (event calendar for Joomla) We used JEvents on Joomla 1.0, and made a site decision when we upgraded to Joomla 1.5 to not enable legacy support, so we started looking for a new calendar for Joomla 1.5.

We started with event list, which seems to have decent community support, and was free, but we didn't like the way it did reoccuring events, or archiving, so we kept looking.

JCal Pro was a great value. The 48 hour subscription is chump change, (I pulled it out of pocket rather than fill out the paperwork for and the software works perfectly. We'll sign up for a more extensive subscription in a heartbeat if we have any trouble with it.

Minor bug: End dates for reoccuring events in the front end must be set before 2022 or else a bug occurs in the back end.

Feature missing: no support for reoccuring event exceptions (not that EventList or JEvents supported that either, just something we could really use.)

Events Calendar
 Not 1.5 Native, September 12, 2008

Events Calendar This compoent did the job and wasn't buggy, but we were not too sad to leave it behind when upgrading to Joomla 1.5. Despite the 1.5 Native icon, the installation instructions require you to turn on legacy mode, which we declined to do.

EventList
Well done for what it does, September 12, 2008

EventList Does a much better job at basic event tracking than JEvents, although I miss the big calendar display, and the extra registration data options Attend Events provided.

EventList Calendar Module Q makes a good companion to this component.

EventList Calendar Module Q
Very clean module, September 12, 2008

EventList Calendar Module Q Very simple to install and use. The default styling worked well enough out of the box. Seamless integration with EventsList.

I'm not sure if this is an EventList Calendar Module Q issue or an EventList issue, but recurring items only show up once on the calendar. Our schedule is jam-packed with weekly events, but the calendar two weeks from now looks completely clear.
