LinX - Reciprocal link exchange component (SEO)
It's a good start, but still needs to be refined, April 6, 2007

LinX - Reciprocal link exchange component (SEO) With some added work by the developer(s), this component could become "A Must Have" for any Joomla install, but it’s not there yet!

Just to name a few problems:
The back-end needs work; too often do you setup parameters, hit save and it doesn’t save your configuration, when you set “no description”, it still puts one on the form page, there needs to be a simple way to enter links from the back-end.

The front-end submit form errors out verified working url’s (“clickable”) and verified reciprocal links. This should be the operation this component shows its best, but doesn’t.

Than there is the reciprocal link the developer has hard coded to his/her own website that you can’t get rid of! It not like the developer doesn’t already have the component well branded on both the front and backend; this is simply insipid and uncouth.

Due to the above problems we had more frustrated users than we care to have, leaving us with no choice but to uninstall this nice little component. We look forward in testing this component once it hit a more matured level.

Security Images: THE CAPTCHA engine
 Installed on joomla 1.0.12, March 19, 2007

Security Images: THE CAPTCHA engine This is one sweet component! This is a very nice add on for those that may be looking for that little extra protection from spammers! Like the review from evolvingtech, this component is almost perfect! If you’re working with the latest Joomla (1.0.12), you are going to have to work the patch in manually. My experience was less involved than evolvingtech due to the fact I was able to replace the Joomla files with the modified file that came in the patch for 1.0.12 via FTP. It was still more involved than I would recommend for someone new to Joomla and new to the replacing of core files via FTP. If the developer would take the time to tweek this component so that the patch was easer to install, it would be prefect!

KL_RSSFEED (Tableless) + UTF-8

KL_RSSFEED (Tableless) + UTF-8 Glad to see this one is still kicking! I remember giving this a try early on. I think I have used this one at least three differant sites.

Good Job!

Flash RSS Feed Reader
Nice reader, but!, March 18, 2007

Flash RSS Feed Reader This is a nice well thought out unit and it looks like it took a lot of time to make. So as long as you don't mind having a branded flash component on you site, get it. I could see a small logo, but to have the Joomla and the creators links on it is a bit much for me.
